I
am VERY sad.

Well folks, I am sorry to say it--but I am ready to give up on Sliders.
I think that saving the show at this point is an obvious lost cause.
I wrote my letters, and put my two cents in. I would also like to say
that I hate USA with a passion. The death of Sliders was long and painful--
but USA decided also to cancel my favorite show of all time, Hercules:
TLJ. Both were ultimate casualties of money-- budget cuts and penny
pinching. USA can go to hell!! Anyway, being a professional writer myself,
I am writing for myself and ending to Sliders. I first must say I hate
fanfic-- for one, most of y'all can't write worth a damn. Secondly,
crossovers are stupid, too many characters are stupid, and your story
ideas sound like the freelance scripts on Voyager. (The most poorly
written Sci-Fi show that I have ever seen.) However, at the risk of
being one of these people, I am myself writing a real literary ending
to a show which in my opinion, earned one. There are so many unanswered
questions, and so much lost potential in Sliders that I truly feel sad.
In fact, this story, in which I am in the process of writing will be
my outlet for my displeasure with the Sci-Fi channel. The ironic part
is kinda that since the show has strayed so far from it's roots, that
bringing it back to it's roots requires a social commentary on the network
that once saved it. Or killed it, depending on your viewpoint.

Usa only airs the old syndicated episodes, not the new ones, and as
far as I know have nothing to do with it other than that. I think sorbo
wanted out himself because he did not want to keep spending all his
time in New Zealand, so he either asked for a huge raise or to shot
in the states, which they would not do. Everyone always assumes its
a greedy network or something.

Been
following HERC & XENA longer than

SLIDERS--Sorbo had a hand in the demise of his show. I know he was asking
for $600,000 an episode this year & I understand he has lined up
another show (something to do with Roddenberry? can't recall) which
is due to start around January, 2000--whether that's shooting then,
or they plan to have episodes airing then, I'm not clear. Lawless apparently
plans to end XENA fairly soon, too, like this is the last season, or
maybe next year will be. But one has to admit the Hercules people shot
themselves in the foot as badly as the SLIDERS people--all that Dayhawk
junk last year was a mess. I recall Sorbo complaining how Hercules was
the son of a god & so should be stronger, yet other characters held
their own in fights which bothered him, so I assumed he had a part in
that whole "Herc visits other gods to teach them how to be gods"
junk. (Got sick of that early. Loki WASN'T evil to the Vikings, just
mischevious, & actually did most of their dirty work for them. Didn't
need any greeks telling them squat.) And I do not know what they thought
they were doing with Iolus. (Kill ours so they can pick up an alternate?)
If possible,I thing Herc has strayed further than SLIDERS. Herc's saving
grace is the Raimi people, though, & the humor which comes with
it. Love Aries, & Bruce Campbell of course.

I
know lots bout H&X

Studios USA cut the Herc Budget by 30%---and Sorbo wanted a raise. He
was waiting for an answer from them, and they cancelled it. It basically
deals with Renaissance, which owns H&X sold the syndie rights to
USA for too little an amount and the shows became to expensive to produce,
and the money that they were supposed to get from USA was not enough
to make the shows at a profit. As for Xena, she is married to the producer!!
And!! it is signed on for AT LEAST two more full seasons, and she lives
there, so if she was gonna do anything else she would have to move to
the states. USA screwed them with the money, and they screwed Sliders
too with money. We are all mad at Peck, but we should be mad at Barry
Diller, or Dillhole as Beavis would have called him for being a penny
pincher!

hansolo0,
YOU'RE mistaken.

It's "you're," not "your." ;-)
Billy, I see what you are saying. Fan fiction is never at the quality
of whatever the subject is. I almost never read fanfiction, because
that your=you're thing has turned into a big pet peeve of mine, and
I can't stand reading writing when that's screwed up. I find it distracting.
But you have to give credit to the people who put effort into their
writing. I mean, if some guy just pulls a story out his ass ripping
off Scooby Doo Peck-style, I can understand what you are saying.
However, if you put a lot of effort into writing your story, and give
Sliders an ending that's consistent with what fans think should happen,
then it just might be close to the show itself. If your fan fiction
sucks, well, that would make you a hypocrite. ;-)

Most of us can't write worth a damn? Stupid plots? Screw you!!! I have
lots of friends here including myself, who are writing, and they are
good at it too. Who the fuck are you to come here and without provocation
trash and slam the respected and talented fanfic writers of this board?
You can just go on and stop watching Sliders, and write your piddly
ass story which i am sure won't be better than anyone's here, because
no one will give a shit after what you said. Now go away before I have
a coronary over you.

Your stories must really be a bore if you are cutting down one the best
and by far the most popular Sci-Fi telivision series airing today (Voyager).
The people know what they like and the people that make the Startrek
series have always delivered for the past 33 years, they are the rulers
of Sci-Fi as far as I'm concerned and you are just a nobody that is
tring to be as good as they are but know you will only fail. If you
are a professional writter I challenge you to post a story and let us
Sci-Fi lovers judge you for what you are.

Even if you think the fanfic stinks, I am amazed you would come here
and burst the bubble of those who are making an effort to keep Sliders
alive. You are entitled to your opinion, but like my Mother always said
"If you don't have something nice to say, keep it to yourself."
Maybe you are a professional writer, maybe you aren't, one things for
sure, you are NOT a people person!

How do you think us Tin Peaks lovers felt when it was over?
At least there's still a chance with Sliders.
I know it sounds cliché, but once someone said: "The only
good cause worth fighting for is the lost one."
See ya,
