Put Sliders in your MP3 player! [GHR]

From: Blinker

Every so often, the suggestion is made that Sliders deserves its own soundtrack album.

Slider_10: "It could have the theme songs, all of Remmys songs, key scenes from the series and other misc items."

QBall43185: "It should also contain the music from the Stoker episode (including the song Sabrina Lloyd sang) and Mel Torme's song in Greatfellas..."

VortexMan: "I was just thinkin that it would be a pretty cool thing. I know I would buy it."

Slider_10: "We could always make one ourselves."

Well, for the last few months, Israeli slider TheUnstuckMan and I have been doing just that. Among the facts uncovered have been the origin of "Stoker"'s music with a short-lived punk band, the source of Rembrandt's song at Arturo's wake (not to mention the words a supposedly hung-over Cleavant transposed), and the amusing knowledge that not only was "Tight Pants" apparently lip-synced to a studio take, but the same take was used BOTH TIMES.

Now, you too can finally hear the first 50 cuts of the Sliders online soundtrack project:

http://slidersweb.net/blinker/tracks/

Highlights include an edited version of "Tears in My Fro" -- without the overlapping dialogue, an extended remix of Wade's duet with vampire-boy, and the painfully rare (thanks to FOX/Sci-Fi promos) uncut end credit theme songs.

You'll need an MP3 player: [www.winamp.com] for Windows, [www.apple.com/itunes] or [www.applesource.f2s.com/software/amp3] for Macs.

The eventual Volume II, in addition to displacing Volume I (this stuff takes up space, you know!), will focus more on the sounds of the first two seasons (since they're next up to be rerun in Canada.) Suggestions as to which scores you'd like to hear next are always welcome.

Enjoy!

Deadbeat sounds a lot like a song Green Day would do.

Pants.mp3 gets a "not found on server" message.

Too bad there wasn't more to "Falling Behind".

The Blue Jay Way pict brings two songs to mind.

http://www.letssingit.com/lyrics/b/bangles/2.html

Bangles' Walk Like An Egyptian

All the old paintings on the tombs
They do the sand dance don't you know
If they move too quick (oh whey oh)
They're falling down like a domino

All the bazaar men by the Nile
They got the money on a bet
Gold crocodiles (oh whey oh)
They snap their teeth on your cigarette

Foreign types with the hookah pipes say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian

The blonde waitresses take their trays
They spin around and they cross the floor
They've got the moves (oh whey oh)
You drop your drink then they bring you more

All the school kids so sick of books
They like the punk and the metal band
When the buzzer rings (oh whey oh)
They're walking like an Egyptian

All the kids in the marketplace say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian

Slide your feet up the street bend your back
Shift your arm then you pull it back
Life is hard you know (oh whey oh)
So strike a pose on a Cadillac

If you want to find all the cops
They're hanging out in the donut shop
They sing and dance (oh whey oh)
Spin the clubs cruise down the block

All the Japanese with their yen
The party boys call the Kremlin
And the Chinese know (oh whey oh)
They walk the line like Egyptian

All the cops in the donut shop say
Ay oh whey oh, ay oh whey oh
Walk like an Egyptian
Walk like an Egyptian

Quinn, Arturo, Wade and Remmy doing the Electric Slide to

http://lyrics.freesoftwarearchive.com/lyrics/Marcia_Griffiths/Carousel/Electric_Boogie.html

Marcia Griffiths's Electric Boogie

It's Electric!

You can't see it
[It's electric!]
You gotta feel it
[It's electric!]
Ooh, it's shakin'
[It's electric!]
[Jiggle-a-mesa-cara
She's a pumpin' like a matic
She's a movin' like electric
She sure got the boogie]

You gotta know it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie!]
Now you can't hold it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie!]
But you know it there,
Yeah here there everywhere

I've got to move,
I'm going on a party ride
I've got to groove, groove, groove,
And from this music
I just can't hide.

Are you comin' with me?
Come let me take you on a party ride
And I'll teach you, teach you, teach you
I'll teach you the electric slide

Some say it's mystic
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
You can't resist it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
You can'y do without it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
Jiggle-a-mesa-cara she's a pumpin' like a matic
She's movin' like electric
She sure got the boogie

Don't wanna lose it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
But you can't choose it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
But you know it's there,
Yeah here there everywhere

HORN INSTRUMENTAL

I've got to move,
Come let me take you on a party ride
And I'll teach you, teach you, teach you
I'll teach you the electric slide

HORN INSTRUMENTAL

Some say it's mystic
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
You can't resist it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
You can'y do without it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
Jiggle-a-mesa-cara she's a pumpin' like a matic
She's movin' like electric
She sure got the boogie

Don't wanna lose it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
But you can't choose it
[It's electric
Boogie woogie, woogie]
But you know it's there,
Yeah here there everywhere

Oooh, I like. I like.

And I can't stop talking like a five year old. Sorry. I've been babysitting, then hanging out with a friend who's a pre-school teacher. Oy.

Also, because someone mentioned it, songs by Suckerpunch (the band from Stoker) can be found at audiogalaxy. (www.audiogalaxy.com) Including the full version of Falling Behind, except it's the band's version...I'd love to hear Sabrina sing the rest of it...

MP3 At Geocities = Will Not Work

Date: 09/04/2001
From: renew

Geocities won't let you offer files with an mp3 extension. You'll have to either zip them, convert to wav or find another place to store them.

So the following clips come up as dead links:

Season 3 End Theme
Season 5 End Theme
America The Beautiful
Damn You
Run Wade Run
The Only Thing We Have In Common
Stupid Furback!
To Love And Lose
Worst Cookies Ever

I enjoyed all the others though :-)

Sweeeeett !!

SE: Thanks for the catch! I was able to fix it shortly after reading your post.

Recall: Nigel Mitchell remains MIA, but is acknowledged because information he left behind cracked the music of "Stoker" wide open. I don't know where he got it, but if not for his legacy, modern Sliders fandom would still be thinking Sabrina wrote her own song.

MSR: TUM provided the titles for most of his tracks, but I had to truncate a couple that wouldn't fit on the average monitor (ie, "A Lot of Things Just Come Down to Loyalty.") "Enter the Duck" is in homage to HK's long-running post series. 7:-P~~~~~~~ The rest, including those really, really bad puns, are my fault. 7:-D

Renew: In my experience, Geocities isn't allergic to MP3s on principle so much as those linked from other sites. I've found you can bypass this so long as you right-click and 'save link as' instead of just clicking them (hence the advisory at the top). Of course, this could just be my computer... can anyone confirm whether it works universally?

The existing files are already a ridiculous drain on Slidersweb resources, so I'd rather keep the remaining ones squirreled away on an outside server if at all possible.

Again, thanks to everyone who's replied. Your support is extremely appreciated!

Yep right clicking does work ;-) (n/m)

A small price to pay, having to right click/save and then listen to the clips .... considering the high cost of bandwidth (which I'm just now starting to deal with myself ;-(

Again nice job with the site !!
