Unknown Fact • PTSS

This may be the most extensively studied episode of the series. Did they take the right Arturo or the wrong Arturo? Who cares? Everybody know about that. What we're interested in is the stuff no one knows...cause it never happenned.

Here's my UNKNOWN FACT about Post Traumatic Slide Syndrome:

The script originally called for the return of all three Spinning Topps, but Topp #2 demanded as many lines as Cleavant to do the scene. Sliders went on to produce 15 more #1 episodes without him...but pretty much everyone concedes they were all flukes.

But did he get to sing at a Giants game?

BT wears a Dodger cap at Giants games.

My Unknown Fact for this episode is that David Peckinpah loved it. Well, parts of it. OK, just the part where Quinn confronts the Professor at his press conference.

Peck was so distressed that there was no asterisk next to Roger Maris' home run record that he came up with a Season Three episode, "The Pecksodus", where a giant asterisk threatened to destroy the world unless it was allowed back on Maris' baseball card. Unfortunately, the new baseball commissioner is inexplicably a British colonel who needs constant injections of a mixture of steroids and pine tar to stay alive. The Sliders must find a way for some of the people they met to survive, while leaving the rest of the world to die, or something.

Instead we got "The Exodus". <TM coughs.>

The irony of course being

that baseball cards don't care about all-time records. So when Quinn discovered his Roger Maris card didn't have an asterisk...well, none of them do!*

R317

*To my knowledge. I don't own any baseball cards of Roger Maris. I know Topps usually puts league leaders in italics and will place a diamond next to the number in place of a tie, but neither of these situations would result in an asterisk.

The other irony being...

Did you know?

Quinn's baseball cards were issued by... you guessed it... Topps.
