=== GOOD THING, BAD THING: EXODUS II ===

SYNTHIA: Right. Okay, my good thing is that "Exodus II" finally dares to portray the open hostilities among the Sliders that "El Sid" only hinted at. And the bad thing? Well, let's just say the conflict is as phony as a tear-jerking long-distance ad.

BLINKER: Talk about phony!

SYNTHIA: You're really asking me to believe that after all these years, Rembrandt is going to come to blows with his best friend over a refusal to rush home right away and leave the people of Pulsar World to their own... well, devices? Or that Wade would back him up by calling Quinn a "bastard"?!

BLINKER [shrugging]: It could happen.

SYNTHIA: Hey, could we redirect the Satellite westward by 16 degrees? I heard about this hot new orbital steak restaurant I want to check out.

BLINKER: But that heading would take us directly into the path of the Satellite of Polls and kill all four hundred people aboard!

SYNTHIA: Wait a minute... who the hell put you in charge? I am *sick* of you acting like God! What it comes down to is that my overwhelming hunger for the delightful, salty pleasure of steak means less to you than a bunch of strangers!

BLINKER: *Okay,* point taken.

SYNTHIA [dangerously]: I'm not kidding about the steak.

BLINKER: Actually, you are.

SYNTHIA: Oh yeah. Good thing? Arturo taught Quinn that "there are no limits to the imagination." Bad thing? He failed to teach Jacob Epstein.

Fugly thing...

You are one butt-fugly BT, you know that??

Good thing: Maggie almost choked to death at the beginning of the ep!! WOO HOO!! She lived, sure, but still... :-D

Bad thing: Take your >:-#ing PICK!!!

Butt-Fugly thing: The most hideously, tediously LAME death scene since Star Trek: Generations. >:-#

So many choices, so little space.

For the good thing...well, there's not alot of choices. I guess I'll have to note the fact that Remmy flexed those vocal chords once again. Always good to hear the rhythmic tones of the Cryin man...even at a solemn occasion.

Bad thing...the fact that Quinn was apparently channeling his prior experience from Stand By Me while shooting the crying scene at the memorial. It takes a...well, *something* to so believably emulate a 6 year old who is acting like he is crying.

Lost thing...still can't believe they cut one of the nicer ideas before filming. On the way off Pulsar Earth, they were to find a large tawny cat and take him to the new world with them. In memoriam, Malcolm would name the cat Max.

Professor who?

There should be an exodus of all BT.

Good Thing: Hmm, good thing about "Exodus, Part 2" ... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Okay, this time I'll be serious. Let's see, good thing ... HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Sorry, can't help myself.

Okay, here's my good thing ... it was a very, very bad episode but "Slither" was even worse. There, that's all I could come up with.

Bad Thing: Just one? Okay, just to cover all the bases ... the bad thing is that the film with this episode on it hasn't been lost or burned.

The Blecch-sod-us, Part II

Bad Thing: BT should have taken the bullet, not Arturo!!

Good Thing: David Peckinpah decides to give up killing blondes for a few episodes. Unfortunately, in a move reminiscent of Pol Pot's Cambodia, Peck decides to kill two of the smartest people we've seen on the show instead: our beloved Professor Arturo and Dr. Jensen (who, according to Maggie's reaction, wasn't really loved by anyone).

Bad Thing: They missed a perfectly good opportunity to let Arturo die of the disease introduced in "The Guardian". Then they missed a semi-good opportunity for the Professor to die as Rickman's next brain-sucking victim, thus giving greater moral validity to their crusade to stop him. Then they missed a barely palatable, but at least somewhat plausible, opportunity by failing to let the Professor die when the pulsar hits. Instead, we get McLean Stevenson syndrome, with vindictive writers first leaving Professor Arturo a veritable vegetable, then, with all the gravitas of a Road Runner cartoon, having him get shot to death by Colonel Rickman and then disposing of the body by having it destroyed with the rest of the Earth. The only thing it lacked was a pointless shot of the Professor from Azure Gate Bridge World choking to death on a ham sandwich just as he was perfecting sliding, so they could ensure he would be dead forever in fanfic as well.

ThomasMalthus

David Peckinpah: "Yeah, we were gonna do that, but we couldn't get somebody who looked enough like the old guy to play the other Professor. Plus, I, um, ate the ham sandwich."

Good thing, horrific thing.

but NO Beginning Text thing.

The good: Capt. Maggie Beckett officaly becomes a member of our sliding crew, ensuring fanfic writers of an easy target for derision for decades to come.

The horrific: Capt. Maggie Beckett officaly becomes a member of our sliding crew, enabling Peckinballs the opportutity to film such family fare as 'The Breeder'.

BT wasn't around then is good!

OK, tough one here......

Good thing, we get to see the original cast in a non-movie ripoff ala season 3.

Bad thing, too many to begin to tell you. How about the fact that according to modern science, this episode is IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!! I mean fabricating sliding is one thing, and using the sega genesis joystick to slide with is another, but this pulasr business is ridiculous!!!! And speaking of that sega genesis timer, how could they find quinn's world with it when A) the fence stop squeaking in ITM, and B) sonic would have gotten there first. Also, ever play Eternal Champions with thos sticks? Its like trying to ride a tornado with a lasso!

Here we go.....................

Good Thing-Davies was able to leave, so he didn't have to be a part of painful episodes like "The Breeder"

Bad Thing-He was forced to do Exodus 2, and we had to see him die one of the worst deaths in television history...

Besides everything everyone says doesn`t happen does happen. (Like in eye of the storm where everyone says Geiger didn`t show Diana the buttons to press to return the people to thier homeearths, when clearly he did show Diana the buttons to press).
1. The sliders do greive over arturo. (Sung a sad song etc. Doesn`t have to be the sliders crying constantly over 20 episodes (Like Tormë wanted)
2. Scientists are discovering different things about the universe all the time which contradicts what they knew before or said was impossible (It was believed for over 1500 years that the earth was the centre of the universe and the sun revolved around earth, it was believed the world was flat, that it was impossible to travel faster than the speed of sound etc)
3. Its alright for a english guy that talks with an english accent to lead an Americn base.

and I`m sure I saw Jensen grieved over.

and over again. Not in this episode(But the whole purpose she became a slider at the end was to catch Rickman ,who by the way killed Jensen, so she could avenge his death) but in many episodes after, and in season 4 there was an episode where she got to spend time with Jensen and to grieve more (hows that for continuity) which all means she cared alot for Jensen.
Was I watching that on a P.U or did it not actually happen?

disqualify sliderseth, he has gone loony

BT even feels sorry for him!

Sliderseth has gon off the deep end! He is highly delusional, having inaccurate flashbacks, and spelling and grammar is worse than ever! I know, what everybody must thinking. "But Joey, how would you know the difference?"

To answer you that I present the following link:

http://www.scifi.com/bboard/browse.cgi/1/5/545/27551

now let us analyze the two previous replies...

"Besides everything everyone says doesn`t happen does happen."

So you mean there IS a Santa Clause, Tooth Fairy, and intelligent sliderseth?

"(Like in eye of the storm where everyone says Geiger didn`t show Diana the buttons to press to return the people to thier homeearths, when clearly he did show Diana the buttons to press)"

I haven't seen this ep in a long time but you know what, I also do not recall anyone saying this. And I do not see why it is a big deal, nor why this is brought up here. This thread is about EXODUS part 2!

"1. The sliders do greive over arturo. (Sung a sad song etc."

No shit Sherlock! Noone said that they didn't grieve. Just that his death was cheap and that after the fact, the sliders didn't seem too concerned about it. Mallory's statement about Arturo in Applied Physics was more touching than anything Quinn said in ALL of season 3 or 4.

"Doesn`t have to be the sliders crying constantly over 20 episodes (Like Tormë wanted)"

Tormë wouldn't have wanted Arturo dead to begin with!

"2. Scientists are discovering different things about the universe all the time which contradicts what they knew before or said was impossible (It was believed for over 1500 years that the earth was the centre of the universe and the sun revolved around earth, it was believed the world was flat, that it was impossible to travel faster than the speed of sound etc)"

I tell you what Mr. Wizard. Why don't you take your illiterate ass over to the fucking library and go look up what a pulsar is? You see, the thing about Scifi is that while playing with ideas that aren't currently possible, they should at least be plausible under the shows circumstances. Also, the science that does exist is supposed to be treated as such. What the sliders encountered in Exodus was NOT what a Pulsar is capable of, thus making it the greatest continuity glitch of the entire series! Now pull your head out of your ass a minute to see what I mean.

"3. Its alright for a english guy that talks with an english accent to lead an Americn base."

Unfortunately, I agree. However, it wouldn't have hurt to have them say something about it like "This is Colonel Rickman, who surpassed his American fellow soldiers to the rank he is now." You know, a minor detail to make things clearer.

"and I`m sure I saw Jensen grieved over. and over again."

So? No one questioned grievience, just love.

"Not in this episode(But the whole purpose she became a slider at the end was to catch Rickman ,who by the way killed Jensen, so she could avenge his death)"

Yes, in this episode. She became a slider at the end of this episode. Vengance isn't love. I don't doubt that Maggie loved Jensen at some prior point but they grew apart some time before the sliders got there. Or didn't you notice that she was attracted to Quinn? And was close to kissing him after Jensens death? How about the fact that a few eps later she wanted to screw that guy in Slither? Nice mourning huh?

"but in many episodes after, and in season 4 there was an episode where she got to spend time with Jensen and to grieve more"

Many episodes? I thought it was just one. None in season 3 unless it happened in the finale'(I didn't see that one). In Season 4, the ep was Slide By Wire; Maggie had closure not mourning. She came to terms about why her marriage was messed up.

"(hows that for continuity)"

Season 4 had great continuty, the problem was that the show evolved into something barely resembling what it was before.

"which all means she cared alot for Jensen."

You said it! Cared, not really loved. When you are with someone for a long time and drift apart, you stop loving the person but you do not stop caring. After all, you need to be friends before you become lovers. I wouldn't expect a momma's boy like yourself to grasp the concept of love when you never tried it on for yourself.

"Was I watching that on a P.U or did it not actually happen?"

Maybe you were in that universe with your mum's friend. She probably slipped what she had into your drink to take advantage of you but became frustrated when you had only 2 inches erect. Sorry man, that's the bitch about Nature. She's not always fair.

Good Thing--Believe it or not we are lucky Maggie joined when she did and Arturo did not hang on for a few more episodes.

Because....

Bad Thing-- "The Breeder" was already being written before plans to get rid of JRD were completely finalized. As bad as that episode was try to imagine it if it was ARTURO trolling the bars in an attempt to reproduce! I'm shuddering just thinking about that jacuzzi scene with Arturo in Maggie's place.

Haha...
