Controversial, non-rant post

Not a Rant, yet controversial anyway.
Tonight i dedicated my free time & Boredom to watching a couple of things
1-Giving LEXX another Chance (mostly due to Blinker)
and Giving X-Files another Chance (Due to the X_Philes)
---
I now think of Lexx more highly, it's not that great a show, but it is pretty darn funny. It's a Comedy, whether it means to be or not.
---
However X-Files still sucks IMO, the reason i watched tonights Ep was for 2 reasons 1/to appease some X-Phile buddies of mine and 2,because Rob Van Dam guest-starred(Well, really he was just the guy who faught one of the "Cro-Magnon" twins...but he was on it none-the-less)
I am wondering, did ANYONE find that Entertaining?
The Entire Episode was utter Crap. If it was trying to be serious it failed, it if was trying to be funny it failed miserably.
This makes me even MORE confused as to why this stuff is one of the most famous TV shows ever....for cripes sake BREEDER was better than that!
---
There i'm done. Now i watch as every X-Phile lines up to kill me for what i am about to write under my name

Lexx is better than X-Files

Tonight's X-Files was pretty darn good. It was funny, and way entertaining. Not the best of the series, but far from the worst.

X-Files was okay. Helluva lot better than LEXX.

LEXX still sucks. I can barely sit through a second of it without (to quote Al Calavicci) "blowin' chunks."

Lexx vs X-Files...

Now, me... I've never been able to get into the X-Files. I've only seen a few episodes; most of which were at best "okay." I did like a Chrismas-themed one (set in a haunted house) and the COPS-themed one.

Lexx: I'm with you, Hunter. I just started watching this show, after much resistance. It IS funny. And, believe it or not folks, it is not sex-laden. The commercials SciFi shows for it have more sex in them than do any of the (few) episodes I've seen so far.

Wow shocked i got so many replies so late!
Anyway, i stick to my opinions. I watched LEXX expecting to hate it, and watched X-Files expecting to love it.
X-Files was boreing, and unfunny. "Funny" includes Laughter, at most i chuckled...once. That does not constitute "Comedy".
And if it was trying to be a serious story it bombed like Hiroshima! And the wrestling was insulting to say the least.
---
LEXX on the other hand WAS funny, and had me laughing a good bit. It was not entire-prono as SFC lead me to believe, and i thank Blinker for getting me to give it another chance. It's not my fave series, but its not that bad.
also to SV i am not "Wrong" i have an opinion, an Opinion cannot be wrong.....unless i say it is.

The HUNTER SAYS

From: rdwebster

the hunter just simply lacks the ability to appreciate anything that won't bring him adulation from his many adoring fans.

He liked Lexx better so he must be pandering to the fans of that show now. Eventually he will find a new legion and then he can stop dissing shows that he thinks his new fans won't like.

You can worship The Hunter

Maybe you have to watch the X-Files to get the humor of last night.
No, it wasn't a serious episode. If it was, you'd know it.

I notice that the people who said they hated the X-Files also said that they normaly don't like it. I really really enjoyed it. From Scully taking the lead while Mulder watches, amazed to the last part where Mulder has his jaw wired shut cause Scully kicked his arse.
It was a hoot and a half!

X-Files episode "Fight Club"

Date: 05/08/2000
From: Executive

Well I'm going to go middle of the road on this one. Even intended as a comedy, the episode was mostly crap. Chris Carter must have rushed that script into production.

Some people on this forum thought it might be Sliders-related because of people encountering their doubles, and it would have been better IF that had been the case. There was absolutely no reason to have people beating the crap out of each other whenever Kathy Griffin's twin characters (Betty and Lulu) came within close proximity of each other.

With the unlikelihood of any faultlines being located in Kansas, at least the Earth shaking could have been explained if we had instead been told that an interdimensional rift was caused from the doubles meeting each other. Obviously Chris Carter was not a SLIDERS fan.

I didn't care for Randall "Tex" Cobb's weak acting as Burt, the wrestler dating both of the sisters, or Kathy Griffin's typically ingratiating delivery (she should stick to stand-up comedy).

But "Fight Club" did have some funny moments:

* The twin delivery guys in the beginning.

* Different looking "twins" of Agents Mulder and Scully (played by different actors) beating each other up, only to soon be killed in an off-screen car accident).

* Scully's calm, rational approach to the worried prisoner father of Betty and Lulu -- what a contrast!

* The Mulder & Scully we know are seen talking to the wrestling promoter after having beaten the crap out of each other in the final scene.

Another funny moment in that story

There was one scene when Betty & Lulu are each getting into their cars and Mulder is in the street between them. From getting too close to the ladies, Mulder is physically sucked into a sewer drain from an unseen force!! Paranormal fantasy is one thing, but that in itself was ridiculous. It did made me laugh though!

Duh! Lexx is meant to be a comody!

Sorry. that was rude. It just makes me laugh becasue so many people think it's serious. Yeah right! But then, your humour is different from everyone elses.

I like LEXX. It's funny. I'm a relative newcomer, but I've been catching up. Kai rules! Wasn't the last US episode Luvliner? I didn't like that one. But that was before I started watching. Season 3 is amazing... graphics are great, and character and humour remain. It's one big arc.

The other thing that makes me laugh is how peopel consider LEXX porn. It's not really. there's a lot of sexual innuendo, but not a lot of actual sex. the odd naked person. Not much really.

I like LEXX better than Xfiles as it is now, though I like the early Xfiles (seasons 1 and 2) better. So flame me for it, I don't care. The Xfiles got lost after the beginning of season 3. It's too dark now. LEXX is nice and light and fun and it has MICHAEL MCMANUS in!!!

I can't comment on that Xfiles... haven't seen it. The last we got was the one with the magicians.

Sarah.

P.S. I had this all written out, then my puter crashed!

As an Xphile <Hunter gets ready to duck> I thought that was a mediocre episode. It wasn't the greatest, but it isn't the worst. See I agree with you. LOL.

The worst I've seen is '3' the first episode about vampires. Now that eppy was worse than 'Stoker' and 'Breeder' combined.

Unfortunately, you saw one that wasn't up to the usual standards. If you've can get FX network, watch the episodes on there. They are showing more of the conspiracy episodes. <Um... Krycek in a black leather jacket.> Oh, sorry about that just haven't seen him that much this season. LOL.

Give it another chance, Hunter. Season 1 starts again on May 30th on FX. Definately watch on June 1, 'Squeeze' is shown. A mutant monster episode who can literally squeeze into snall spaces. BTW on June 8, is RJ's favorite episode 'Genderbender'. The first two scenes are the absolute best. LOL.

P.S.

Did you show up at the masquerade party yet? LOL

First off, I don't "worship" Hunter. I happen to agree with him here, that's all.

I never said I hated X-Files. I just said that it doesn't seem interesting to me most of the time. I did not watch last night's episode. I started to, but it did not grab my interest, and I switched it off.

I'll continue to watch Lexx. I think I will enjoy it. It is funny. And Sarah, yes Kai is great! I love the concept! The last episode they showed was Terminal. The one you mentioned is on this week.

I HATE LEXX!!!!

And I don't mean that in a good way.

My problem with LEXX isn't its "sex" or "porn". I have the same problem with LEXX that I have with THE SIMPSONS...

IT'S GROSS!!!!!!

Not to mention I want to punch that annoying bastard with the long black hair. But then I'd actually have to touch him.... EWWWWW!!!! =(

Thanks, but I'll take MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE instead.

Only seen the X-FILES once or twice, so can't comment on it.

"Fight Club" was funny!

It wasn't the greatest episode, but I bet people tuned in mainly for Kathy Griffin. I didn't care for "Suddenly Susan", but I did like her appearance on "Seinfeld", in which she played (appropiately) a stand-up comedian. Although it would have been better not to have two Kathys. One is more than irritating enough!

Also, Executive, the Mulder and Scully lookalikes from the beginning of the show weren't killed. The slide showed they were propped up in their hospital beds with multiple injuries. But you're definitely right! The scene where Mulder goes down the manhole was one of the funniest in this episode. Personally, I thought there would be more of a sci-fi element to this ep. Maybe it would be explained that when the twins were in close proximity, there would be some kind of shift in the Earth's magnetic field, or maybe just a bad mix of yin and yang causing major mishaps. On a scale of 1 to 10, I give it a 5, mainly for the humor.

P.S. Lexx sucks big time!!!

1-Webster i don't "Pander" to anyone. People can like me,love me, or hate me, i don't give a crap. I am not "Pandering" to Lexx fans, to be honest up until i posted this i thought everyone but Blinker HATED it. If i thought only 1 person liked it how the hell am i PANDERING? (rhetorical Question)
2-Maybe i like Lexx for the same reason i love "Attack of the killer tamatoes" it's off the wall humor. It's ment to be "bad" and i like stuff like that.
3-I'll give X-files one more chance...it's 3rd attempt to please me. If it does you will all know.
4-If Exec is acoiding me like the plauge then how did he read this post?

I jokingly meant that I try to avoid your occasional snide remarks against me. I was just spoofing your serious comment made to Hakovann vs. Temporal Flux a few weeks ago when you told Hakovann to "go worship Executive". I wouldn't expect anyone to worship anybody else -- and certainly not here! Anyway, I'm surprised you would say something like that during a long period when I decided not to even post here.

As for your other messages (I only read some of them), I will again quote HDR: "My posts are like a train wreck. You just have to read them."

Sorry Folks...
