Entire media is biased against Sliders

I was reading my local newspaper's entertainment section (The New Jersey Star-Ledger), and I found a disturbing letter to the editor by what must be a JOC fanatic. A woman named Liz Kreslin from Freehold, NJ wrote the editor, asking what happened to JOC and why he was not written out on camera. She claimed that she could not find any information on the Internet, so she couldn't have tried too hard to find out the truth. She also noted that she has abandoned what was her favorite show because of Mr. O'Connell's disappearance (She said, "The replacement actors are terrible".). But what was even harder to swallow was the response of the editor. First of all, for someone who is supposedly "in the know", he knew nothing, instead choosing to speculate that JOC "had enough of dimension-hopping and left the show with his brother." However, these two characters (Alan Sepinwall and Matt Zoller Seitz) went over the line with their next dig about the show's cancellation. They concluded their response to the ignoramus's letter by asking "do you really want the show to continue with the stiff they got to replace O'Connell?" That comment revealed their second agenda, to plant opinions in the minds of their readers while reporting the news. I can't understand why they would be prejudiced against Sliders though. I could only fathom two reasons: 1. they are JOC fanatics. 2. they wish to remain in the Sci-FI Channel's good graces by defending their pig-headed cancellation of one of their top-rated shows.
Well, now we know that other representatives of the print media (besides Sci-fi's magazine) are biased for Sci-fi and against Sliders. If anyone has a different explanation for the editors' venomous attack on a show that has already been killed, I would love to hear it.

Not everyone cares about TV...

I think you are taking an article by people who probably don't even care about TV way too seriously. I don't believe that such an article has any effect on whether a show is cancelled or not. The bottom line I think is money, and a network has to consider itself as a whole, and not just one show. They don't care about what some person in NJ says. They really don't care much about what we say on these boards either. The dollar speaks first, what we think is second.

I agree it can be infuriating when people who have no knowledge insult what we enjoy. But their insults meaningless and have no effect on the show.

Peace,
Ish
