I'm new here--nice to meet Everyone. I have one question that I've never seen addressed in the show (although I've missed parts of episodes here and there) or on this Board. If a slide is missed and the Sliders have to wait 29 years, where does the number 29 come from? Why not 30 years? Why not 29.3353337 years? Does anyone know?

Actually, 29.7 years...

it was just an un-predicted algorythm in the programming in the timer that was discovered while they fiddled with it.

The reason for not making the number 30 years is because Tracy Torme thought 29.7 sounded better than just plain ol' 30. (really! i'm not joking.)

You're lucky. You haven't been flamed by SpaceTime yet. He's the worst member of the BBoard. (this is becoming an all out war!)

29.7 years was supposed to be introduced

in the Season 1 episode, "Summer Of Love" and there was supposed to be a longer explanation for it in that episode, but it was many things that were cut due to time constraints and FOX's pressure to Tracy Torme to keep the show from getting to technical. It was supposed to be part of the reason why Remmy & Wade got seperated from Quinn & the Professor during the slide and on "Summer Of Love" earth!

Thanks, Mr. Brown and Lipschitz Live...

...for the information you provided in addition to Buffyboy's. I has been curious about the "29 years" for a long time. Charmed 2005, I don't get on my PC too much--please tell me more about them getting rid of this site (?).

Guess I don't get to those grammar books too often either. Meant to say "I had been curious..."
