Update to Temp's Interesting Observation

Having checked out the credits of all season 4 eps, I (think) that I have come up with an even more interesting observation.
Checking all of the production numbers has resulted in some strange findings. In the prvious 3 seasons the production number has always indicated the filming order, which is not always the aired order.
The production no's for season 4 are (in aired order)....
Genisis K2801
Prophets and loss K2805
Common Ground K2810
V.Slide K2807
W.Killer K2804
Oh Brother... K2811
Just say yes K2809
A.Horror K2803
Slidecage K2815
Asylum K2813
C.Reich K2802
Dying Fields K2812
Lipschitz Live K2814
Mum and child K2819
Net Worth K2806
Slide by wire K2820
Data World K2808
Way out West K2821
My bro's keeper K2816
The Chasm K2817
Roads Taken K2822
Revelations K2823

Now if this the case, it means that the filming order is VERY different to the aired order, which further means that Colin was actually filmed in episodes before he was introduced in Oh Brother where art thou.? In fact according to this logic that episode was filmed halfway through season 4. This in essance means that Genisis was filmed first followed C.Reich,A.Horror, W.Killer, P & L, Net Worth etc, etc.

So the question is, is this so or did I waste 1 hour forwarding through all of the credits ?

Another bit of info I discovered was that the first six aired eps were copyright 1997 Universal City Studios Inc, with the next 3 Copyright 1998 Universal City Studios Inc. The next 7 were Copyright 1998 New-U Television Lic, with the last 6 Copyright 1998 Studios USA Television Lic.

And finally there was not a production number of K2818.

Sorry for the long post, but perhaps this does mean something.

Meanwhile back to nothing better to do....

Here's how it goes

The numbers you're referring to aren't actually the filming order numbers, they're the p-code given to the scripts as they were completed. It makes sense if you think about it. As evidence for my claim, I refer back to third season's "The Other Slide of Darkness," which had a film code of SL-320 had a p-code of K1802, which is right after Rules of the Game and before Double Cross (K1801 and K1805 respectively). Nan Hagan and Scott Smith Miller wrote the rough or treatment early in the summer of 1996 and while it was eventually filmed WAY out of order (and a different name and without Arturo), the script WAS initiated/completed/whatever before a grip of other scripts. The K-code is pretty meaningless, which is why I use the SL codes to determine what order I need to tape my episodes, since not accidentally they make more sense in SL order.

The one exception being SL-203 (aka "Into the Mystic). I know, I know...

Hope this sheds some insight.

That is interesting...

Because it at least shows in what order the scripts were originally conceived. The most interesting part is where you pointed out that K2818 is missing...that's going to have to be "God in the Machine" which had been outlined and accepted...just not filmed. I also notice that the early numbers after Genesis consist of many of the past scripts or ideas which were retooled (i.e. Net Worth - Onliners in season three, Prophets and Loss - seems to be a retool of a Torm'e idea which made the comic Ultimatium, and California Reich - seems to be a serious retool of the season two idea Twisted Cross). Of course that may be coincidence...but if not, then are Alternateville Horror and World Killer past script ideas as well? MSZ told us at DragonCon that he was actually supposed to write for season one of Sliders, but something came up...could World Killer have been an idea he had come up with for back then? It's definitely interesting...

Also, your observations verifies the different logos even in Australia (something that had earlier been in dispute)...as you see with your findings, though...they go in sets, uniterupted. We have had a break...which I believe the eps were aired in a different order for you as well. Your order has them in sets...while ours has this break with "The Chasm". Still, that may not mean anything...but it's interesting that for some reason it's the odd duck...holding the logo of episodes from earlier in the season broadcasts state side. It's a definite mystery...and there's an answer out there somewhere.

Thanks for your insight OzSlider!
