Age discrimination?

This is in reference to the "Age Poll":

If you're referring to my comments about Buffyboy (who, apparently has decided to stay despite two public farewells to the board), that's not age discrimination. Age discrimination is when someone, based on their age, is denied the priviledges of another age group. Buffyboy is free to do whatever he likes, but I think the first thing that should be is make up his mind. You staying or going, Buffyboy?

All references to his age by me in his farewell post were due to the fact that I actually knew his age! Y'see, when you read what he's writing and you know it's coming from a 13-year-old kid, I don't know about you, but it gives me a chuckle. Talking big to sound older but when it comes down to it, has the same mannerisms and mentality of someone barely a part of adolescence. We should all be able to relate to that.

But any 12-year-old (because he was 12 when he wrote it) telling me to get a life? And hyping how he doesn't have time to deal with BBoard "morons" because he has to prepare for the rigors of MIDDLE SCHOOL? C'mon. I don't care how old someone is, but if Buffyboy is going to complain about the losers and morons on this board, why does he freak out when people don't listen to him and flame skirmishes continue? It's the pot calling the kettle black.

I'll grant that Buffyboy has a good vocabulary for a 12 or 13-year-old kid. But if he's going to wrestle with the big boys, he needs to have thicker skin than he does.

The comment was not targeted to you. I have notice over the months that I have been here that some people but down others opinions or writing just becuase of age. I did the poll because I wanted to get a fell for the age of the members of the board. To tell you you the truth I don't think I even read your comments to BB.

As for your definition of age discrimination, I would say discrimination is not only when you deny priveleges but also when you make judgements on someone based of age.

I don't care how old you are. Executive is 31 and I bag on him, too. I'm 22. You and Executive are equidistant from me in terms of age.

Listen up. I goof on you because you need to be goofed on, regardless of your age. It's not a pathetic attempt for attention, because that's been filled by EARTHPRIME.COM (in case you didn't know, BuffyBoy, that's my web site). Conflict, however, is a motivation for my debates with you. Why?, you ask. It's simple. You propose that only people who gush about Sliders congregate here, and that everyone else should leave because this is a forum for FANS. Well, check this out: I run one of the most comprehensive web sites for Sliders fans, know everything there is to know about the show and can still think of things I hate about it. So why should I be excluded? Because I can be critical? Criticism can be perfectly acceptable, Buffster. It usually takes 14 years to get a hold of it, though, so I'll give you that.

The ONLY reason for me to even come here any more (since I know all the news and don't need to hear any uninformed spoilers) is the PEOPLE. And the drama that is the Sliders BBoard. I love it when flame wars erupt. People like you take yourselves so seriously that they can't back and laugh and realize that IT'S ONLY A BULLETIN BOARD ON THE INTERNET.

Perhaps the funniest thing about you, Buffy, is that you're so gung-ho about this being a welcome place for fans of the show, yet you denigrate people who don't agree with you or are JOC fans. And you know what? We're very similar. Nothing irritates me more than reading "Where's COC/JOC" posts, and I let people know that. And it bugs the crap out of you, but when *I* get on the person's case you tell me to button it! Ridiculous.

But I think this really sums it up right here, and you said it yourself:

Honestly, Buffyboy, I couldn't care less what you think of me. Every time you post some vindictive little missive about me, I think about the fact that you were *8* when they filmed the pilot.

But bear in mind that I'm one of the older members here, and just for that I should command a little respect from you, especially since you're all about community. If that doesn't, then EARTHPRIME should. And it THAT doesn't, well, ask TemporalFlux or Executive how fulfilling an endeavor it is to get into a battle with me.

Okay. Now, in response to your reply to my reply:
No, I do not think that evryone who has a different opinion than me should leave. I think the morons saying "SLIDERS SUCKS FOR NO APPARENT REASON!!" have NO place here. if you back up your opnion, than fine, I don't care if you stay or not, evn though I still don't like people coming here for the specific purpose of bashinfg sliders.
Secondly:I do not post "vindictive little messages to you". I post replys to YOUR immature and assinine comments you say to ME. I am only defending myself. Gett hat straight.
Thirdly:Just because I was only eight when the pilot came out (no, you aren't biased by my age, not at all.) doesn't mean any thing. I have seen every episode, and I have a wide range of sliders knowledge, just like you. And yes, I still do not like some things about sliders. Like the 3rd and 4th seasons, and 2 eps of the fifth. I recognize many things are bad. But I over look that, cause the good things greatly out number the bad.
Fourthly:Yes, I do take this board seriously. When one such as your self starts bashing me, I'll stand up for my self. But you are different:You take pleasure in others conflicts, and try to create your own.
And if you must continue to harass me, a child, than I truly pity you. And guess what: I won't let anything you say get too me. Now I will try to ignore you. You only want me to bash you back, but I won't. Now I ask you AGAIN to please leave me alone.

First of all, SPaceTime is 22. You are NOT 10 years younger than him if you are 19. You are 3 years younger than him. Simple subtraction. Most people have mastered it by your age.
Secondly:I do not try and intimidate people. I stick up for myself when some one starts bashing me. I do not post nasty comments to them, becuase I happen to be a mature person.
Third:I am male. That is why my handle is buffyBOY. It is right in front of your face. You wrote it out...the name is sort of indicative of my gender.

The "girl" thing came from... i don't where. I was almost totally sure thatin one of the age/ sex things you said you were a female. Again my mistake. Has anyone ever used a name close to yours? I dunno. Sorry about that reference. I mentioned it because i wasn't sure.
As for the rest i was talking about not only your comments on mtvwatchR ( iwill admit that not ever i stated in there was based on that post) but other people of time (mtvwatchR only an example)
