A Law unto Himself

This is why I love the bulletin board. *This* is why I love Sliders.

It isn't the show. I haven't thoroughly enjoyed the show since "Dead Man Sliding," long before I came online and assumed the mantle of SpaceTime. Sure, there's been some standout episodes from the past couple seasons, but they are soured with the whole infighting and behind the scenes buffoonery we learned about from TemporalFlux and his inside sources.

No, what it is is the human drama of the people who are fans of the show. We're worse than Star Trek fans. Of this I am sure. We've got the mindless, clueless goofs that go around asking about information that even moderately informed fans knew months ago. There's the lurkers, people who read yet never feel the need to contribute. The spammers, who like to whip out there big cock and slam it on the keyboard, as if we care.

There's also the big leaguers, of which I guess I'm a part of. People like TemporalFlux, Blinker, QBall and Jorge Cisneros, who have web sites or connections to sources or both and post enough here that they are a familiar face.

Why I'm a part of this, I have no idea. I run EARTHPRIME.COM, sure. But aside from that, I don't think I bring much to the BBoard aside from amusement. I guess I have the luxury of seniority here that people have seen me post against Executive (notably with his totally off review of "Obession" - seriously, dude, WHAT were you thinking?), idiot goofs and other assorted trolls who felt they were above everyone else. You know who you are.

Despite what people think, I do not have a god complex. Honestly, I cannot believe that stupid phrase was so blown out of proportion. First of all, Darkslider jokingly called me the God of Sliders Sites when I told Captain Maggie point blank what I thought of hers. Second, when I repeated the line, I quoted the movie "Groundhog Day." The smart ones picked up on that. The idiots did not, and now I'm plagued by this stupidity.

As I've said countless times (I feel like one of the recent mob who felt the need to contribute no new opinions in light of the Joke), I run EARTHPRIME.COM. I also post here. Some people, like Garrett, seem to believe there's a connection. Aside from one day where I took the site down, that is not the case. Garrett also believes that I have become so problematic that the only *honorable* thing I can do is to relinquish control of Expert's pages to TemporalFlux. As if Expert gave them to me. I guess an argument is good because it lets me reiterate the same common knowledge ad nauseum.

Garrett also believes that because of the way I am, EARTHPRIME is forever tainted with my horribly subjective and twisted views. Well, Garrett was right on one count. My opinions shape my web site. Case in point, my episode capsules. I lace them with my own opinions. If I hate an episode, it'll be readily apparent. You disagree? Well, it's not your website. Make your own episode capsule and write what you think. And then you'll be just as incredibly subjective as I am.

Now, on to the latest litany of idiocy.

Slider_Sarah gave me a cool quote: "A joke is not a joke. It's serious stuff until it's laughed at." That's courtesy of some song by the Lightning Seeds.

Well, lemme tell you, I have been laughing my ass off since Tuesday afternoon.

Lemme tell you something else: I never pretended to have any integrity.

This is a bulletin board. The odds of me meeting anyone here aside from Darkslider, who I knew in person and dragged him into this little menagerie, is non-existent. Therefore, the written word is the most critical factor here in building friendships. I have made several friends, and I talk with them often over Instant Messenger or via email. Anything of a personal nature is carried out there, not in the BBoard. In fact, I now consider the BBoard to be nothing more than a playground. Nothing substantive, just a bunch of kids running around jabbering like monkeys.

And I have treated it as such. I do not tolerate the dolts and attack them for their lackluster brain pan. I also goof around. Blinker and I created the Phone Booth World, a tribute to Garrett's seminal Mindgame web site.

And of course, there's the Joke. Why the capitalization? Because it will never be eclipsed on this board.

I played a really good Joke. It wasn't even remotely factual, but it sure sounded real, didn't it? It's absurd. It's absolutely absurd. The fact that people believed for a SECOND that the five of us would get together and just royally SCREW the board for shits n' giggles is the greatest testament to the collective idiocy that exists at good ol' 1/5/545.

And then phase two of the idiocy set it: dozens of random settling in to offer meaningless interpretations that only echo something someone else already said, posts where mindless goofs fail to read testimony from those involved and reiterate the foolishness, and general in-fighting.

Now, we've got total rejects who can't look back one day to determine the source of all the nonsense making analytical comments and forming biases and judgements on third hand information when they could get it STRAIGHT FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH.

Let's get one thing straight, just for the record:

- JLBanker made the comment in chat on January 3, 2000.
- I heard about it and confirmed it in chat.
- I *alone* made the post.
- TemporalFlux, QBall79, Jorge and Blinker did not contribute to the posting of "The RKWeiss lie... exposed"

I find it funny that these people all of a sudden lose respectability. I could say the same of myself, but I'm not concerned with what other people think about me. I do not apologize for what I did. I *am* sorry that this had such a negative effect on those I mentioned, but that's it. I had a gas watching all of the mindless morons freak out and buy into the hysteria, flame anyone and everyone, and continue to prove to me that intellectual discussion can never truly happen here because the average poster is too simian in nature to contribute anything valid.

The majority of the people here are idiots. I've been saying that for years and it will not change.

I have been a good friend to many of you. Now a lot of people are rethinking that. Well, if you pride board politics over our friendship, I don't know what to think.

One thing is for certain: just because this caused a ruckus doesn't mean I'm going to tame myself. I'll continue to post exactly how I've always posted, regardless of public opinion. That is how I have always presented myself.

After all, I am a Law unto myself.

You aren't very nice. But after all they say "Nice guys finish last." It's true.
I'll hand this to you though: this board is a neverending human melodrama, and you are right on that account. Its like a goddamn soap opera every day. There is always a "divorce" or an "affair" or whatever the hell, and you just pulled the biggest goddamn "scandal" in the history of the board. I have to admit that I was laughing my ass off at one point.
Before it appears that I'm kissing your ass SpaceTime, I suppose most view you as an egotist of sorts and they resent your deity status regarding Sliders. Even I seem to think "Man, this guy must be kidding me. Who the hell does he think he is?" But still, I have to hand it to you.
About this board, you're both right and wrong. You see, most people who post on this board are not simians but worse. They are more like a disgruntled retired marine holding the post office hostage; most of the time they have Stockholm Syndrome but sometimes they are ready to go off like a grenade.
This board is the tip of the Sliders iceberg, ST. I'd love to scope the havoc you could wreck elsewhere.

I don't know what to say. Sure, I'm disappointed in you for fabricating fraudulent information, but I can live with that. Nothing you can do or say will justify what you did, but it's so trivial that it can be disregarded.

Yet you run Earthprime.com, my personal favorite Sliders website (beyond my modest site, TF's elaborately informative site, vortex62's impressive site, and all others), and I think that with all the time you've taken in designing it, you deserve another chance.

Personally, I've lost some respect for you, but I haven't lost my perception of you as an insightful poster on this board, or as the intelligible webmaster of Earthprime.com .

By all means continue to post here, but I must point out that fallacious arguments by you will be totally disregarded from now on, so please exclude your posts to relevent Sliders-material, rather than fake news to earn you infamous popularity.

Good luck with some of the closed minds of this board, and keep up the good work on your website.

The thing about Matt (SpaceTime)...

Date: 1/7/2000
From: Executive

In addition to what I said about him and the trouble he has caused for a number of people with the entire Robert K. Weiss hoax (which I'm glad I missed), Matt's been a big pain in the ass to several of us long before that - as even he has admitted. Now I've been no saint either, but once again he has to dredge up the past with another fallacy: I did not "review" the episode "Obsession". And although I purposely didn't see it in a few years at the time (because I hated it), I only pointed out my opinion as to why I hated it, and I was very brief and to the point. That wasn't any reason for him to make it into an argument, but that was his choice. My "Obsession" commentary post was clearly written not to offend anyone, merely to offer my views. (I've been attacked much more for merely hating much the fifth season, and "Obsession" was ironically one of the few second season episodes I didn't like).

The point is that SpaceTime loves mayhem. I had nothing new to say about SLIDERS, so I didn't post on this board for a couple of months. When I did yesterday, I see that he is still pissing people off!! The only good thing I've ever been able to say about this guy is that he does have a well-designed SLIDERS site. But that isn't everything (particularly with production of the show long cancelled and only 4 new episodes left to air here in the U.S.), and I hope it teaches anybody here who fell for that phony Bob Weiss chat a lesson:

Like I said a few topics ago, if someone from the entertainment industry comes on-line to participate in a chat moderated on a major website (such as The Dominion, TV GUIDE Online, or Ultimate TV - to name a few) than you can be sure it's the real deal. But if it's own an independent fan site (like Earthprime.com)...than chances are it's a fake. As I understand it, ST (pretending to be Robert K. Weiss) moderated this chat from his own site. Remember that this guy is a FAN, and his SLIDERS website is a FAN website.

I don't care much for what you think of SpaceTime. That's your business. What I do care about is this:

You don't the facts, sir, because the chat did not take place on Earthprime.com. It took place in #Sliders. Had you read some of the older posts, you would see that many of us have said that. Did you bother to read the transcripts Brand_S put up?

http://www.scifi.com/bboard/browse.cgi/1/5/545/15292/1

If you look at the FIRST line, it says that it was on #Sliders on the Scifi Website. And it points it out in many other places, as well.

Believe what you will. E-mail me if you'd like to see this "false" information.

Well, I have been gone a long time so I haven't read the chat transcripts in question. You said it was on the Sliders# on the Scifi site. Were you referring to THIS site?
Still, the posts I've read make it sound very informal. Just because SpaceTime called himself "Robert K. Weiss" (which he admitted to here), doesn't mean anything! And I'm sure the real Weiss will never know about the entire hoax.

By now I hardly even care. The point is that Matt Hutaff is a lying bastard, and he just comes here to rile a lot of people up.

A published article in a trade magazine or on an industry website in which Robert K. Weiss discusses his efforts to get a SLIDERS movie into production is all the proof that I need. It's hard not to be skeptical on a bulletin board like this one. At least on the Dominion's FIRST WAVE board you can rely on the information the regular users give you most of the time.

Forgot to mention, Jorge...

From: Executive

You said that the phony chat took place on this site. Well, as I told you in E-mail there are unmoderated chats between the fans, who can call themselves anything they want in a chat room (including Robert K. Weiss). When I said there wasn't a chat here with the REAL Weiss, I meant that it never took place in that it was never announced on The Dominion. Proof that Bob Weiss never chatted on The Dominion in 1999 follows in a listing of all of the transcripts from last year (and one from this week):

Like I said before, the chat with Bob Weiss was created and moderated by us.

About Executive

Date: 1/7/2000
From: TemporalFlux

While it's already been shown he doesn't cover his facts in this thread, let's look at something else. Exec says that if the news was from an industry source...then he would believe it. It's funny...it has been. The first one is Cinescape:

http://www.cinescape.com/insider/indexnew.html

(Unfortunately, no direct link can be provided...one must look for the Dec 17, 1999 archive).

Does Cinescape say it is rumor? Do they doubt RK's identity?

But I've got something better. We have seen in the past how Exec loves to use Sci-Fi Wire (archived in Science Fiction Weekly - the *OFFICIAL* on-line magazine of Sci-Fi Channel) to back up what he says. Here's one example:

http://www.scifi.com/bboard/browse.cgi/1/5/545/14654/3

And the article to which he referred? This one from late July 1999:

http://www.scifi.com/sfw/issue119/news.html

Now...*Sci-Fi Wire* has reported the movie:

http://www.scifi.com/sfw/issue140/news.html

Do they question? Did they doubt? Did they say "rumor"? They solidly report the movie is in the works. Now, either Sci-Fi Wire is an industry source (as Exec has used in the past evidenced in that link above) or it's a source who never checks it's info and is incompetent.

The fact is...Exec changes these "solid lines of proof" more than he does his underwear. You'll never give him proof...even if RK Weiss came up and punched out the message on his forehead. Why is this? Because Exec looks for anything he can say against Sliders...he changes his own values constantly just so he can get in a dig and dance on the show's "grave". And the proof is right here...an industry source *has* backed it up. And to say that source is incompetent undermines all the crap he's said against Sliders in the past.

Even though you have proven absolutely nothing as usual (except that your childish attempts to discredit me using URLs -- whether they are mine or not). You do this out of your own insecurity, and I'm only replying to this to set things straight. At least I'm addressing you directly!

No, I'm not "dancing on SLIDERS grave". I have only stated
(1) the truth behind the death of the show (cancellation from record-low ratings, particularly compared to the previous Sci-Fi Channel season) and (2) my opinions as to what led to to the first reason. SLIDERS was once a great show, but as Sci-Fi themselves stated last July it had "run its course". The series had its time, and like it or not that time is over. I type for a lot of fans (too many of whom don't use this board) when I say that I'm disappointed to see it end the way it did (two new cast members who didn't fit in, amazingly bad writing in most of the fifth season stories, a flawed "unstuck" premise, etc.), but what can you do?

As for this topic it was to express my anger as to what a phony SpaceTime is. Since this topic was supposed to about him (and ST even initiated it), there was no reason for you to redirect your anger at me.

Saying a movie is "in the works" as you did is incorrect, as the fact of the matter is that Robert K. Weiss has long wanted to make a SLIDERS movie. It never made it beyond the planning stages, so if it's not in production (which it isn't) than it's not in the works. Leave it to Temporal Flux to totally misunderstand what I (and others) write!!
