The True Confessions of Brand_S
The "Other" Board
Since a month after I joined, there has always been another message
board alongside this one. That one dedicated itself to peace and quietude,
rather than the loud, constant fighting that happened in this cesspool.
A great idea on paper. In reality, there were almost as many mofos there
whose asses were in dire need of cap-busting. But good times were had
by all. Most notably, Echos invented "Party Time," which just
needs to be seen to be believed.
· Echos
Echos I always liked. Her real name has this interesting assonance to
it. Moreover, she's a very humble, nice girl. I'm sure she and VM would
look really cute together in real-life, too. That wacky couple. Even
when Echos was annoyed with me for using lowbrow humor in one of her
stories, (What could POSSIBLY be unclean about David Peckinpah dropping
his pants and answering a question with, "Cuz I got one of THESE?!")
there was something about her I just liked... as a friend, of course,
VM! It's just a shame that Echos and I don't talk too much. We used
to talk a lot on ICQ... until I gained an obsessed fan from elsewhere
who started scaring me via ICQ, and I uninstalled the program.
So who's VM? Vortex Master! He's our resident Israeli "Sliders"
fan, and Echos' very very good friend.
· Vortex Master
With me having Palestinian blood, and him from Israel, I can proudly
say that I think he and I represent peace in the Middle East... Yeah.
Fucking. Right. Seriously, he and I have always gotten along great,
which I'm really happy about because he's one of the few people who
really likes my writings. He's a great guy. He's very patient and he
takes a genuine interest in my many endeavors. That, and he and Echos
would look so CUTE together!
Echos and Vortex Master are two of the most idealistic people you'll
ever meet (from a political science standpoint). I like them a lot,
although with my foul-mouthed, politically realistic, hateful cynicism,
I'm quite surprised that I befriended these two, who are like modern-day
hippies! ... I'm also surprised that I'm a fan of Journey. An 80s hair
band. Who'da thunk it?
So, anyhow, the "other" message board has taken many forms,
had many URLs, and been through many reformations, but it's always been
the best option for the peaceful "Sliders" fan in us all.
It really is a much better place than this. I've promoted it as the
safe alternative to this place, and I will until it's not there anymroe.
The people there are just a lot nicer, especially the man nice enough
to provide the current "other" message board: vortex62.
· vortex62
The man himself, Steve of Steve's Parallel World! This is the only "Sliders"
fan I've ever met who has a way of avoiding all the petty fights and
other bullshit. He's one of the best sources for "Sliders"
information to boot! He and I have always gotten along great, for which
I'm very thankful. He's also the only sailor I've ever met who doesn't
talk like me! (DOUBLE Fuckin' A!) When the "Sliders" community's
slow death finally, inevitably concludes, he'll be one of the names
all the few remaining Sliders fans remember.
I'll introduce you to two more of the friends I've had the pleasure
of making there...
· Vigeant
Vigeant is a lot more patient than he should have to be. Lord knows
I've accidentally tested his patience enough times. Everything I regret
most about my time in the Sliders community involves Vigeant. Namely,
never having handed over the Dominion War for his site, and being unable
to do anything significant for Shabadoo Games. To this day I feel terrible
and overwhelmingly guilty for those two things. I'm just glad he and
I are still friends... At least that whole assassination attempt of
his seems to have blown over.
· Sabre_Edge
I remember that it took a while for Sabre_Edge to settle into a groove
on the "other" message board, but once he did, he was a groovin',
jivin', boogiein' machine! BURN, BABY, BURN! (Disco Inferno!) Sabre_Edge
and I pretty much think the exact same way. It's really cool. I just
wish there were more people who could do the Robot the way he and I
do!
If you ever want to visit that place (and I recommend it over this
one), just go to Steve's Parallel World!
