Darkness Falls (FF)

Darkness Falls
As I watch silently, my heart breaks
Only watching, nothing I can do
A mute observer
In the whole scheme of things
It means nothing
But the whole world to me
Too many unspoken words
Too many buried feelings
Too many wasted moments
Too many secrets
Not enough support
Not enough action
Not enough soul searching
Not enough time
Now it is ending
Not quickly
Not silently
Not peacefully
Not in the future
Not later
Now
Nothing will fill the space
That was once yours
A piece of me, you will take
A piece of you, I will take
Together forever and more
If I could turn the clock back
Would I? No. Why?
Then I lose the lesson
Then nothing will change
I will learn nothing
What a waste
Darkness falls
Nothing I can do
Just a silent observer
In the grand scheme
Of the uncaring universe

This poem describes a poignant scene from a Sliders episode. Any guesses as to whose thoughts are these and from what scene and episode? The winner gets a prize that I will reveal later. :D

One would hope...

... that these might be Quinn's feeling regarding the loss of Wade, but somehow I think you've got something else in mind.
"If I could turn the clock back
Would I? No. Why?
Then I lose the lesson
Then nothing will change
I will learn nothing
What a waste"
That's the one section I don't see as Quinn. And since he never watched what happened to Wade, it wouldn't be him anyway.
I'll be interested to see just where these thoughts come from.

The 2nd to last paragraph is a puzzler

I don't see anyone uttering it. Time and again, Quinn declares he would turn the clock back. Heck, he goes so far as to destroy one dimension (As Time Goes By) and dramatically interfere in another (The Guardian).
And yet I pick Quinn anyway. My call is that this poem applies to "Obsession."

As times go by.......

I'm tempted to say "As Time Goes By". After the last slide, when Remmy points out the phone booth and asks Quinn if he wants to look Daylin (sp?) up again, and Wade realizes Quinn could never truly love her.
In fact, in a way, I think Quinn and Wade almost shared this same sort of thought/emotion at the same time.
(OK, now tell me how completely way off I am!!)

I guess I threw the readers off by the second to the last paragraph. Hehehehe.
Thanks Y. Sign up for the story game the next time. :D You're a talented writer in your own right.

First gut response...

unfortunately two people come to mind, as well as two episodes/situations. First, Thomas Mallory, son of bubble world Quinn and Maggie, in "Roads Taken", and his look back at his life and his parents lives together. Second is Wade from "Requiem", and her shared connection with either Remmy or Quinn and looking back at her life as the ship explodes. But then again on farther reflection it could be a couple of other people in other situations also, hmmmm....
