I think another fanfic is in order. It's been a while, so hear goes. But this post is just a little teaser, and I may not get to post every single day like I usually do with a story, so be patient.

United We Slide, Divided . . . We Disappear

Prologue

Colin strode into the Sassy Brass Bar and Grill, pushing the door open with more force than was necessary. He looked at the long bar crowded with bar stools, but with
few people, then turned his attention to the stage as he heard a guitar being tuned.

There he saw a man with long hair and small glasses with yellow lenses standing with one foot propped on a stool, bent, staring intently at the strings of his guitar while
tightening and loosening the pegs. Behind him, another man sat tapping on drums, cranking the heads to get the right sound. A third man sat behind a keyboard, flipping
switches and pecking keys.

"What's your pleasure, fellow?"

Colin turned toward the bar to see the bartender, with long dark hair and bulging biceps, standing in front of him. He could have easily served as a bouncer for the establishment. Colin frowned.

"Beer," was all he managed to say.

"That's kind of a broad order there. Care to narrow it down?"

"Your best. I really do not care," Colin answered sourly. He then turned his attention back to the stage. The bartender raised an eyebrow and shook his head, reaching
for a glass and pulling on the tap in front of him. He plopped it down in front of the tight-lipped stranger. The head foamed up and over, running down the side of the mug.

"That'll be $3.50."

Colin flipped out a twenty-dollar bill. "Keep serving me until that runs out." He picked up the mug and concentrated on the band as it prepared to crank out its first tune. He stopped it in mid-sip as the lead singer came on stage and took the microphone. The tall brunette wore slim black leather pants and a red spaghetti-strap top. High-heeled black leather boots completed the outfit. She started belting out a tune from The Eagles,
and Colin momentarily forgot about his woes.

Care to hear about what those woes are? Stay tuned. I'll be back.

What a start!! Are you sure you've got the right guy here? Mild mannered Colin -- so abrupt, ordering a steady supply of beer? Oh man! I'm definitely looking forward to more of this one ;o)

Fox
