...when you stop to think of all the different Links and Zeldas there
are.
Ocarina of Time comes first in the series, in the correct continuity
order anyway. This is the first Link and the first Zelda (blonde this
time).
Mask of Majora follows after that. Same Link, but... could there be
a double of Zelda in the other world?
Next in the series comes Link to the Past, aka Zelda III. Now it's
been over a century, and we've got a new Link and a new Zelda again
(blonde), descendants of the others we already know.
After that, Link's Awakening on the Game Boy is a direct sequel. Same
Link as we saw in Link To The Past. No Zelda in that one.
Now we have to go past yet another century. Then we reach the original
Legend of Zelda. A new Link, another descendant, is the hero now. And
he's rescuing a new Zelda (brunette).
But then Zelda 2: Adventure of Link comes along. It's the same Link
from the last one, grown to age 16 by the time of this new adventure.
But in that game, this Link learns of yet ANOTHER Princess Zelda (brunette)...
who's been sleeping in Hyrule Castle for hundreds of years.
Add it all up, and it means that we've had adventures with three Links
and four Zeldas. Youch.
And you thought Sliders continuity was convoluted!
The good news is that there's only one Ganon. He's human in Ocarina,
until the final battle anyway, and at the end he's sent into another
world, the Dark World where he's trapped in a pig-like state due to
his greed. He comes back to haunt us in Link to the Past... and apparently
he escapes back to our dimension in time for the original NEST Zelda.
Then he dies and stays dead through the next one, since if you win Zelda
2 that means Ganon wasn't resurrected.
Good to see another Zelda player on here, I agree. But I hope I didn't
just baffle you with all this... hopefully you already knew it!
