The Sliders book license was previously with Harper Collins where they
produced one Novel (based on the Pilot episode) and one episode guide
(which was done quite poorly in many fans' eyes). Both of these were
written by Brad Linaweaver...and many believe he successfully killed
the Sliders book license with his work (sales on both books have been
low...in fact, the episode guide was almost not released).
As for other people to contact...I really don't know any place encouraging.
It never hurts to try though...Universal (not Sci-Fi Channel) is in
control of merchandising on Sliders, so they would be one to contact.
As well as other book publishers (such as the ones who do the Star Trek
books and Quantum Leap books - I believe ACE did Quantum Leap at least
for awhile and Bantham did part of the run...not sure on that though.)
Hey, it never hurts to try if anyone wants to take up the cause (I'm
unfortunately too busy).
Then of course you have the Sliders comics (are you aware of those?).
They were put out by Acclaim throughout 1996 and into early 1997. The
stories were actually based on ideas for the television rejected by
Fox (Co-creator Tracy Torm'e was personally shuttling the ideas to Acclaim...mainly
through editor Jeff Gomez). In all, there were 10 comics (Sliders #1
and 2, Ultimatium #1 and 2, Darkest Hour # 1 - 3, Blood and Splendor,
Narcotica, and Deadly Secrets). There were three left unpublished that
will never be released...one was called "Get a Life" (a "Lost
Episode" like Blood and Splendor...in other words, a script was
completed for the television series but never used), another was Tracy
Torm'es version of the series finale, and lastly was the Sliders/Quantum
Leap crossover (licensing had been completed with Bellisarius entertainment...but
financial troubles with Acclaim shortly thereafter will cause all three
of those unpublished stories to never be released). You may already
know about the comics that were released though...if you don't, just
tell me and I'll give you more info on what they were about and where
your best shot is in finding copies for yourself.
Anyway, just a few quick notes for you...welcome aboard and I hope
to see more of you!
