YES, this is a poll :)
I was noticing the vast diversity of handles here and couldn't help but think, where do all of them come from? Is there any kind of special meaning behind your handle, or an origin?
Just thought I would ask. This got me a little curious, looking at all the different names here on the board (Brand_S, Le_Monde, TF, Seiyuu, HunterD, fantess, TheOne19, JSLeaper, dellyone, etc.). Makes you kinda wonder why the heck that person chose that handle. :) ...and I thought it would be interesting to read the responses. :)

My handle started out as a spoof of commercials that use comparative advertising, where there's the "other" brand, usually called Brand X. And my first initial is S, so I went from there. I wanted my handle to go in a totally different direction than it ended up doing. Now people see it and to them I'm either:
a) (to Sliders folk) The zealous defender of Rob and Tembi.
b) (to Jerry-lovers) The non-Jerry-lover who "blows goats."

The reason I asked about your handle that one time is because I always thought you meant something else entirely by SadSliderFan. When I saw your handle for the first time, I had you pegged as one of the extra-vocal Season 5 haters. ;-) Then you had to go, be a cool person, and prove me wrong. ;-) But, I guess, in a lot of ways, we're all Sad Slider Fans. ;-)

Yeontoo is Southern Slang. A nephew was mimicking someone the first time I noticed this. I loved it from the getgo. I use it on every board I post on (easy to remember).
My aunt down in New Orleans says they say it differently, but I don' remember how.

My handle is actually a combination of a nickname and my age. When my nephew, Brad, was first learning to talk, he could not say Uncle Brian (Brian is my real name).
It always came out "Bunky Bine" or just "Bunky." The name kind of stuck for these past 13 years.
Bunky is still put on Christmans presents by my family.
My age is 34. So, I use my nickname here with my age -- it's is to remember.

Originally when I started posting on the FOX board, I tries coming up with a name that sounded cool.
I came up with "Informer"... but I didn't really like that too much, so I changed to "Informant"
Besides I like all the cool nicknames. Info, Infy, Cousin Infy, Hey Loser... hmm...

When sliders first hit television me and a group of friends watched it and everybody kept mentioning that the similarities between my life and Quinn's were astounding..(I'm talking the character Quinn here not Jerry Oconnell) So anyways the name kind of stuck throughout the years. Now of course I did'nt try to build an anti-gravity device and I don't live in San Francisco but almost everything else between me and Quinn are identical. From having a fascination with dinosaurs since a very early young age to spending most of my life building or taking apart things in my basement....thats where I am know. Watching Quinn's mother yell at him for all the time he spends down there and all the junk brings back fond memories. There are plenty more. (lets just say the gaurdian episode hit so close to home it brought tears to my eyes) Almost like they wrote that one just for me :)

I have had many names so i will list them all
I first appeared as Kanyon_Raven, those are 2 wrestlers names who i liked.
Shortly after i switched to my semi-permanent name HunterD_Raven, HunterD comes from the Anime(Japanese animation) movie Vampire Hunter D. Raven is the name of a gothic wrestler, and D_Raven minus the underscore is Draven, the name of The Crow in the movie The Crow.
I have also used the name Jericho_Y2J, which is a tribute to wrestler Chris Jericho, and the name Spike_The_Vampire, an obvious referance to the coolest Buffy villian ever.

Mine pretty obvious of where I got it from, but here is the reason I chose it.
I commonly go by my middle name, and in 6th grade a good friend of mine started to call me "Becket". This nickname has lasted through the years.
Maggie is the shortend version of my first name. I was called this for a short time two years ago, but it didn't stcik to well. Anyway, one day I am watching tv and I run across this interesting and familiar looking show. Come to find out, that obnoxious dark-haired chick has my name!!!!!
The rest, as they say, is history.

Like you, when I arrived on this board, I had no clue who Peckinpah was, or that there was even a debate between season 5 likers and haters, I was pretty oblivious. I didn't really understand the Jerry-Bashing and most else that went on.
When I first started watching season 5, I did not see season 4, so not only did I miss Quinn and the Prof, but I missed Wade as well. I never hated Season 5, I don't think I could hate anything Sliders-related, and I can't believe that true fans would hate the show in any form. Maybe they could like it less than before, but to actually hate it or want it off the air, that is illogical.
I didn't even know the show was cancelled until I browsed the board. That is when I had the urge to ask questions.
I first chose the very original "SliderFan" name, but that was taken, so the first thing that came to my mind was that I was very sad the show was cancelled, therefore the "Sad" part.
When I saw your handle, the first thing I thought was "fire", "flames" and other such things related to "branding" someone :)

Well...I first came here with some fellow Quantum Leap fans from a QL message board (where I began posting as A fellow Leaper but AfL is easier to type) and also another Sliders BBoard where me and these fellow QL fans also posted messages. Everyone knew me as AfL, so the name stuck. FishBone also registered me here as Afl (Thank you again FishBone) because I only have a web-based e-mail address, which The Dominion wants NON-web-based e-mail addresses to register. If I was able to register myself, I would have registered as AfL too.

I guess I should give away my secret too, since you all have :)
I chose lastslider as a tribute to Remmy, being the last original slider left and the one that has survived what the other might have not. I first came here under a different handle (I don't even remember what it was now, it was so long ago), and then changed it to last_slider...after a while though I took the _ out of the handle and now it's just lastslider.
I also go by xbeliever -- it's from my other love, The X-Files, and my favorite character, Fox Mulder (I can relate to him in alot of ways). I usually use this handle on other BBs, and, *very* rarely, here.
So there's my story. Not much of one, but at least you know :)

Seriously, when I first came to this board, I was looking for a catch handle - I thought of ones from my favorite movie, Back to the Future, like TemporalDisplacement, FluxCapacitor, and finally (I'm not kidding) TemporalFlux. Of course, this was before I even knew someone else had this handle, so I resolved on a simple Sliders-related QUINN_MALL0RY . Then, I got sick of typing in all caps in the handle, Q_M was an inconvenient way of identifying me, so I changed my handle to something else - VirtualDimension.
"Virtual Dimension" implies science fiction and parallel universes, and that's me. I was so happy when I finally discovered Sliders - the first show only about parallel universes, that I had been hoping for for a long time ...
VirtualDimension identifies more with season 4 episodes like "VirtualSlide", "Data World", and "Roads Taken", but season 4 was when I actually got the handle, so I thought it appropriate. Besides, it's got a nice ring to it.

To really get my handle, I guess you'd have to be an anime fan. Nobuyuki is a character in a popular anime series called Tenchi Muyo. I'm not actually much like the character at all, except to say that he's pretty funny and hates being overworked. He's really hard to explain since most people have never seen the series or movies in the U.S.

than mine, but the reason I chose SlideRite is because it sounds quirky. No, really it is because it sounds like Stride Right. You know, like as in little kid's shoes? Yes, I'm a mommy, can't you tell? (AND, :^) I'm constantly mothering my friends too.) I really try to do things the right way, whether Sliding, or making choices in real life. I also happen to like it's initials SR for use in chat or whatever.
Soooo, I'm actually a "Domestic Goddess & Crafts Guru" and I'd be more likely to answer how to get mustard out of your carpet, or give you a great Quiche`recipe, or explain how to sew a zipper than answer any kind of a Science or Math problem. But I love Sliders, and making new friends is always fun.
That's it! Not very glamourous, I know, but oh well......
(By the way, to get mustard up, you first pour salt on it to absorbe it, let dry, then vacumn it up. Repeat if necessary until salt remains white. Clean any remaining spot with white vinegar.)
