Starboard
- JOC's word on Sliders movie
Date: 09/18/2001
From: SFDarlin
Informant, I'm assuming this was your question:
From informant: There has been much buzz about a
Sliders movie. Can you tell us what the latest info is on
that? It'd be great to see the original cast back
together.
No Sliders movie. It fell apart.
-----------
Well, who knows? Something could always come about in the future.

Actually

It's just Jerry reiterating what he said during that chat back in March
of this year. I still find an optimistic tone to the news, though.
After all, we had to actually have something tangible going for there
to be a falling apart. If the movie idea had gotten that far, it could
easily be revived by the studio at a later date.
As for this E! question session, I found it interesting that Jerry finally
admitted the truth about his departure from Sliders. After years of people
questioning the information I had, the man himself has finally cleared
it up that he was indeed trying to wrest control of Sliders and take
it in his own direction. Whether or not Jerry in control would have made
the show better is up for debate...but I have a hard time imagining him
doing a worse job than what ended up being season five.

Maybe
he just didn't like Peck's vision.

TF,
Jerry better S4, worse S5
Date: 09/19/2001
From: Grizzlor
I think Jerry would have been better at season 4 if he had control, as
long as he kept to one plot arch for the season!
As for season 5, I'm not sure the content or episodes would have been
that much better. maybe worse, considering you would have the entire
S4 cast again. That means bad acting charlie, and jerry too. Jerry is
better than Robert Floyd, at least at playing Quinn. I will always think
that Floyd should have been given a NEW character to play. That was a
bad move to give him jerry's character. Diana is a much better character
than Charlie, hands down. with Jerry, the price tag may have limited
the show's budget even worse! The question would be if Jerry would have
done the Entire year. If only a part, which scifi would never have allowed,
maybe there would be room for a new character. Still, if Jerry was given
control, or at least part control with say Bill Dial, and Peckinpah was
TOTALLY eliminated as a result, perhaps they could have gotten Sabrina
Lloyd and John Rhys-Davies to guest on the show!
unless that happened, the season would have been equal or worse. Colin
would have served no purpose whatsoever.

Floyd
WASN'T given Jerry's character...
Date: 09/19/2001
From: FogBoy
...he was given Mallory. Any similarities to JOC's Quinn ended with the
name. The entire personality was different, and was intended to be.
So, he did get a brand new character.

Ah,
but you forget FogBoy...

From: Grizzlor
yes, Maggie's "love interest" did die with Mallory, and yes,
he was a different character, having little to know memory from Quinn,
although either Geiger or Diana said that Mallory had more matter from
JOC Quinn, which makes no sense that he would have hardly any memory
of his.
however, remember Applied Physics, Eye of the Storm, and The seer?
to name a few, these episodes centered on separating the Quinns. This
was
without a doubt the worst and most annoying aspect of the whole SERIES!!!!!
That and wade in a jar and Arturo the Actor!!!! Season 5 really annoyed
me with these teasing of the original team, yet they never intended
to bring any of them back. In fact, we got Sabrina's voice, Jerry's
old
image, and Rhys-Davies Stunt double for crying out loud. Anyway, it
was really dumb and annoying how they would keep bringing Geiger back
and
trying to fix Quinn, even though they never would. That really P-ed
me off. They should have given Floyd a NEW Character that had NOTHING
to
do with Quinn, like Tembe Locke's. That way, you can start new, and
stop wasting time and the viewer's PATIENCE by masquerading this "we'll
save Quinn crap" though it never happens
