I logged on last night and read through the posts, then went over to Expert's site to get the scoop. At the time, I was too upset to come back and express my feelings. I was so frustrated and disgusted that, although I am NOT a violent person AT ALL, I actually wanted to hit something - Peckinidiot's face being my first choice, of course!

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. As others pointed out, I think that we are all a bit jaded, considering everything Sliders has been through. But last night I realized just how SAD this is. You know, I was actually EXPECTING the writers to screw season five up!

When I first read the stories, I thought "Hey, this might not be too bad." I actually LIKED many of the episodes, especially the proposed season finale. It could've really opened up the possibilities for a sixth season! But even as I thought this, I just KNEW it was too good to be true. There was this little voice in the back of my mind, telling me that things would just get screwed up once again.

And of course, that little voice was right. I will not go into the MANY, MANY reasons why these proposed changes were so HORRIBLE - most of you have already articulated them far better than I could. Let's just say it was the worst I've ever felt about the show.

Today I started to feel a bit better as I read some of TF's posts. (By the way, TF, thanks once again for your info and insight.) I pray that the info is correct, and most of these nightmares will never see the light of day. Of course, I can't help but cringe and think, what WORSE and MORE STUPID things could they think of? IS there a more stupid idea than 'the meld' or 'Maggie mysteriously pregnant by a Kromagg'? God, I hope not!

My profound apologies to anyone who may take offense at my above venting. I know that I haven't said anything original, but I just had to say it all anyway. I am just a fan who, like ALL of you, cares a great deal about this show. I was frustrated and hurt by the writers' lack of caring, both for the show and us fans. I hope they realize that they can do a LOT better, and decide to make this show great again.

It's just nice to know there's a place where we can all come
and vent when we need to (none of my friends or family cares
about the show one way or the other and they can't understand
why I'm so bothered by all this).

But I've kind of decided at this point that I'm going to start
taking all these spoilers with a large chunk of salt. They've
changed so often and so drastically that the only thing we can
absolutely rely on at this point is that there WILL be a
season 5..for better or for worse. And I've got my fingers
(and toes and eyes and everything else I can manage!)
crossed that TPTB will come to their collective senses and
produce the quality show we all know is possible.

And BTW, as to whether there's a stupider idea than Maggie
mysteriously pregnant by a Kromagg...ever heard of a little
ep called "Breeder" ;-) ??? And don't you have to wonder
what these ideas show about how the writers feel about the
character of Maggie?
