Here is the transcript for tonight's chat with RK Weiss! I know that S already posted one, but I didn't know it was up until after I transcribed this. So I decided I might as well post it, since it ias slightly different than his. This was *not* like the mock Peckinpah chat... RK was *really there*. <Slidemaster> I am fashioning a sstory that would be satisfying to old and new fans

<Slidemaster> Nothing to do but sit tight and wait for the vortex to open up

<Slidemaster> The trick is to layer it appropriately so that exposition is interesting. Then move forward with story GA

<Slidemaster> I don't usually discuss salaries publicly. Actors are paid based on
their experience, talent, size of budget, etc GA

down the line? And would you listen to any fan ideas, if they went through an
agent?

<Slidemaster> Different pay scale then TV

<Slidemaster> I am not considering any spinoff notions as I am concentrating on
feature. GA

show?

<Slidemaster> Mixed...

<Slidemaster> I'm sorry for the fans but it enables theatrical film possibilities GA

<Moderator-Informant> Have any cast members shown interest in the movie?

<Slidemaster> Have not discussed with cast members yet. It's too early in the process.

<Moderator-QB79> <Brand-S> How is Tracy Torme to work with?

<Slidemaster> Tracy is great. We had a lot of fun

<Slidemaster> GA

<Moderator-QB79> <JessieMallory> Are you planning on resolving issues like which Professor slid or right Earth Prime etc.? Or is that not an issue at the moment?

<Slidemaster> There are questions arising out of the series that would be fun to answer. But that is hard in the context of a single film...

<Slidemaster> Also won't necessarily work eith movie gower who hasn't seen series

<Brand-S> How do you feel about Sliders in its present form? ... <sliderbrix> Is the 'final four' of Sliders going to end on a good note, considering what has happened to the original team?

<Slidemaster> Very occassionally and not recently. What I have scene i like...

<Slidemaster> I know there's a creative story site but i don't go there to protect my interests GA

<Slidemaster> Can you get me a complete list of those sites?

<Moderator-QB79> <TemporalFlux> Was there ever a plan for Logan St. Clare (Quinn's female double) to reappear? A second episode with her scripted or planned? If so, what's the short on what the story would have been?

<Slidemaster> Don't know Was not involved with later convolutions of the characters/story.

<Slidemaster> I like St. Clare as a name though

<Slidemaster> No I haqvn't. I am no longer active in St. Clare. My partners have continued to use the name and keep the company going GA

<Moderator-QB79> <Sabre-Edge> Why the change of look for the Kromaggs?

<Slidemaster> I don't know. There ahve been a lot of changes or revised rules or looks that i thought were ill advised and some downright irresponsible. But that's just my opinion GA on the show

<Moderator-QB79> <Brand-S> What's your favorite Sliders episode? And the Pilot doesn't count! Everyone loves that one!

<Slidemaster> Thanks. The pilot was a labor of love. I wish the show still had the comic and cross cultural touches we tried to do in the pilot and the first season

<Slidemaster> As for my favorite episode ...

<Slidemaster> I can't pick one or even two...let's just say I prefer the earlier seasons GA

<Moderator-QB79> Did you or Tracy at the beginning ever think or dream Sliders would back so popular?

<Moderator-QB79> That one's from JessieMallory

<Slidemaster> We did dream that it would be this popular...

<Slidemaster> When I originally conceived of the show, I was trying to design a concept that would last a 100 shows. To do that youv'e got to be good and poppular.

<Moderator-QB79> <Charles> are the kromaggs going to be in the movie?

<Slidemaster> I've got ten minutes before i have to Slide...

<Moderator-QB79> You wouldn't want to miss the window!

<Slidemaster> Don;t know about the Kromaggs. What do y'al think?

<Slidemaster> Loved Bennish. A character like him or him very very possible

<Moderator-QB79> A compliment and a question... <go-to> Well I would just like to thank you personally Mr. Weiss. It's been great! <JorgeCis> What were your original intentions regarding the Quinn and Wade relationship?

<TemporalFlux> And I think the type of stuff you were doing in the first seasons is the important part...intelligent alternate history with nice twists and comedy

<TemporalFlux> Like the Judge Wapner thing and People's Court...priceless!

<Slidemaster> We were trying to set up some ongoing romantic tension between the characters and twist it around on the different Earths.

<Moderator-QB79> Get Gaffney for the film... he would be great

<Moderator-QB79> <Jersey-Slider> Which episodes did you enjoy more, the historical differences with each world or the more sci fi approach?

<Slidemaster> Do you mean alternate history re Sci fantasy? GA

<Slidemaster> It's all sci fi to me

<Moderator-Informant> What did you thik of the first cast change wherein John Rhys-Davies left? (from Brand-S, I think)

<Slidemaster> I was very sorry to see John go. I loved his character GA

<Moderator-QB79> Any hopes to get Rhys-Davies in the movie?

Brand-S> Best actor alive!

<Moderator-QB79> Do you feel that a good possibility exists that this movie will start a series of movies or a spin-off TV series?

<Slidemaster> It's possible. It's a natural for sequels. As for more TV, we'll have to see. GA

<Slidemaster> We are in story development stage. Once that's done we try and set the powers that be to Slide with us. GA

<Slidemaster> I'd like to. We have to stnchronize our schedules. GA

<Moderator-QB79> <Sabre-Edge> Were there other character designs left on the drawing board? Were there any characters changes before filming the pilot?

<Slidemaster> I was already interested in the "new" physics...

<Slidemaster> Things like the Einstein Podolsky bridge were an innate part of the concept. GA

<Slidemaster> er characters that were dropeed on the way to filming the pilot...

<Slidemaster> The story was originally set in a boarding house with some other folks. GA

<Moderator-QB79> I doubt you can answer this specifically, but... <Jersey-Slider> Are you going to try and have a "happy ending" or are you going to leave it open for possible sequels?

<Slidemaster> I don't know about a "happ" ending, but it will be both satisfying and tantalizing vis a vis sequels.

<Slidemaster> Not in this forum. But there were more characters who live dthere and got sucked into the orig slide. Too amny to service GA

Wow! That's the best Sliders news I've heard in ages. Weiss really seems to have the right idea when it comes to how to handle Sliders. Thanks for posting this, QBall79. I had no idea it was going to happen! Where did it happen? Here on the Sci-Fi BBoard? And how on Earth did you and Informant get lucky enough to be the moderators on this thing???? :-)

Thanks again. I'm in a giddy good mood now. I feel like a kid who just got his best Christmas gift early.
