I returned to the set of Sliders that day whispering prayers under my breath. After the Kari incident, I frankly didn't know what to expect. I was constantly looking around for any sign of that she-devil. I spotted Robert Floyd sitting outside his trailer, so I went up and took a seat across from him.
Press: Robert! Thanks for showing up. After what happened last time, I really don't know what to expect.
RF: I could have said the same to you. Hey, I'm glad to do it.
Press: You promise not to freak out on me?
RF: I can't promise anything... but I'll try.
Press: That's comforting.
RF: I do try.
Press: First question - original cast – returning? not returning? Can you confirm any of the rumors we've heard?
RF: The originals returned... I think it was for three episodes this season. They were sent some scripts to review and decide upon. Rhys-Davies was the first to respond. Everything fell into place after that. Some of them were available for some guest spots in a few episodes too.
Press: Awesome. So what's it like to work with Jerry O'Connell, whose character you replaced last season?
RF: Jerry... is a nice person... I don't have a problem with... Jerry. LEAVE ME ALONE!!! GET AWAY FROM ME!!!
Press: Oh lord, please not again!
RF: BWAHAHAHAHA!!! Sorry man, I couldn't resist. You should've seen the look on your face! Oh MAN!
Press: I never believed it for a second.
RF: I don't believe *that* for a second. Man, that was classic. Hey, did you spill something on your pants?
Press: What? Oh my... yes I did... I had some apple juice before I showed up and... this is so embarrassing.
RF: No big deal. It's just that I didn't notice it until after the joke.. I thought maybe...
Press: That I wet my pants? Ha! Now *that's* funny. No, it's *definitely* apple juice.
RF: If you say so.
Press: Moving on... what happens to Mallory this season? Does he grow or mature? Do we learn more about his past? What makes him tick?
RF: Oh yeah. There's a lot in store for Mallory. We find out some things about him. Some things will surprise the fans. Others will shock them. Film at 11.
Press: And when can we catch Sliders this season?
RF: 8PM Eastern On Sci-Fi every Friday night. It premieres June 9th.
Press: There you have it. Thanks so much for joining me, Robert. It's been... interesting.
RF: It was nothing.
I shook Robert's hand and walked away. As I passed Kari's trailer, I heard some pounding and struggling. Assuming the obvious, I stepped up my pace. I heard her scream, "Just let me OUT!" as the door flung open. "I'm FINE," she yelled to someone inside. She spotted me, and I walked as fast I could, pretending not to see her. She spoke up. "Wait! Hey Press guy! Wait!" Despite my inner voice begging, pleading otherwise, I turned around. She ran up to me and stopped.
"Hey," she said. "I just wanted to say I'm sorry for before. I wasn't myself, I..." she paused. Her glance had shifted from my face to my pants. It was obvious what she wanted, but I had no intention of staying. My ego, however, was deflated fairly quickly when she looked back up at me and said, "Oh my god, I'm so sorry... I scared the piss out of you!" I looked at my pants and realized what she had been looking at. My face turned beet red as I turned around and stomped out of the studio.
The only thing worse than what had just happened was the thought that I had to return to the set to interview Tembi Locke.
