This post is a call to any of the peoples here who have a hint about quality sci-fi television and the fan experience. Look around you. Like what you see? I don't. I used to post here a lot. I don't anymore, like I said, this once excellent show, Sliders, now attracts the wrong kind of fan base and I'm not kidding. Wanna know something? It doesn't matter that they are in the millions. It's true, networks only care about numbers. But THESE numbers are the WRONG numbers! Sliders is on at 9:00PM Eastern, and even if you watch it at 6:00PM on the pacific coast you are still getting sci-fi's post-prime time advertising. My point? These kids here are not the target the sponsors are looking for. These clueless teens and pre-teens mean NOTHING to those sponsors, they don't buy the sponsors' products and most of them can't even spell "sponsors". They are also annoying when they begin their mob behavior act.
My friends, those who remember me, those very few from the days way back when Sliders was all we lived for, I have travelled beyond all of this. I have found a true quality show that attracts intelligent people and people who matter in the big picture as well. A show with everything Sliders once had and has now irrevocably lost,*I* say with confidence that this is the one that will pay off, that every week you will catch me following the protagonist's exploits, for he is the twice blessed man!
First Wave is the best show in Sci-Fi Prime! I'm not saying I don't have fun with Farscape, but what! First Wave has captured my heart after I refused, hear me, REFUSED to watch it way back when, because I thought it was a "Invaders" rip-off, BUT NOW everything has changed! Follow me into the promised land, join us First Wavers in our enjoyment of truly great TV, for we are the the TWICE BLESSED FANS!The 12-15 year olds can start their infantile flames now. Poor children, blindly following the blind.... judging talent by breast size. :)

and I love "Sliders" and it has nothing to do with any physical parts of the anatomy of any of the actors/actresses or the characters they portray! I believe that "Sliders", for the most part does not talk down to it's audience (of any age) and has some very intelligent and wise things going for it (for example, but not limited to this: I know of very few television show {Sci-Fi or otherwise and certainly "First Wave" does not} that suggest to find answers to questions or to find out more about the world to visit your public library -- by the way I am a library worker who happens to want to be a Librarian and I think that makes "Sliders" a very worthwhile program -- and if I fight with 12 to 15 years old to keep on the air, so be it! -- I'd rather have 12 to 15 years old be preached to go to the library, over believing every conspiracy is true or to lear at anatomy like "First Wave" does!) Of course SunGokou2000, are you sure you do not have that in reverse -- that it is "First Wave" that glorifies learing at physical parts of people's anatomy -- because that is the way this show comes across "First Wave" or should that be "First Glance"! Me thinks you feel guilty about your pleasure (and, I'm not saying that you are not allowed to have, but why would you deny us "Sliders" fans are pleasure?) "First Wave" and are putting it off on a show that doesn't do what you claim it does! Also, SunGokou2000, nobody on this board is forcing you to watch "Sliders", you have the ability if you would like to turn off the television or watch something else for an hour (but, that gives you no right to take "Sliders" from others) or to go into another room and do something else -- ever heard of reading? or how about listening to music? (if others are watching it where you are at!) or go outside the place where you live, whatever! Because, the other thing many of us suspect is that, YOU ARE HAVING A GUN POINTED TO YOUR HEAD WITH SOMEONE MAKING YOU WATCH "SLIDERS", AND IF THAT IS TRUE YOU MIGHT WANT TO CONSIDER GIVING US ON THIS BOARD SOME IDEA WHERE YOU LIVE, SO WE CAN CALL YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT; BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH WE MAY DISAGREE WITH YOU I DON'T THINK ANY OF US WOULD PARTICULARLY LIKE TO SEE YOU DEAD OR HURT!

So, the "librarian" types in all caps like the 12-15s surrounding him (hardly a way to gain any credibility), and has no valid points or arguments since he has obviously never seen a whole episode of First Wave, from what he says, and as far as the 13 year old goes, well, he essentially proved my point. Anyway, those two were not the type of people my message was addressed to, as a matter of fact they read the beginning of the message and decided to read the rest anyway, which is when they started acting as if I'd pointed a gun at their heads to make them read it. Lol. BTW, the "librarian" should do his research if that's what he's supposed to be impersonating. But then again he could be just be a sociopathic manipulator who's avoided growing up so far. Ya never know, you know? :)

and start preaching the good word of Naked Aliens. This is a board for fans of SLiders, not fans of first wave. The reason we seem so aggressive is because we are inundtaed with people like you who come here only to tell us that Sliders sucks. They have no real opinion on why they think it sucks, they just say so. After dealing with that for 4 months straight, you would be a little pissy too.
You also bring up the point that there are teenagers here. Most of them (me included) are respected members of the board, and you are not. Age doesn't matter if you are a good, mature, and friendly person, and obviously you possess none of those qualities.
If First Wave atttracts "intelligent" fans, then I can see no reason why most of it is only about sex. That is a sign of a show that has no substance, and knows that its lame stories and characters can't keep it afloat, so it has to throw in some gratouitous sex. That happened to Sliders in its *3rd* season, with First Wave it happened in the first *episode*. But the point I am trying to make isn't about First Wave. It is about you and people like you who are comeing here to upset the balance we once had on this board, and I am asking you to stop it. If you don't like Sliders, then fine, DON'T WATCH IT. But don't come here either a)complaining, b)trashing the members of this board, or c)using this place as advertising for First Wave.
Now please leave this place as you have nothing, and never HAD, anything intelligent to say.

It's one thing to say you don't like Sliders and you do like First Wave. It's another entirely to call me and my friends "clueless teens and pre-teens" and saying we "mean NOTHING to those sponsors." I'm trying to make peace on this board, and I don't need some flamer like you trying to start some mass Exodus. You know as well as I that most of the people here hate First Wave. We all bash it because we think your show sucks and only the soft-core crowd is into it. How much do you think a bunch of porn freaks matter to the sponsors?

By the way, I'm 17, I've scored extremely high on both the SAT's and the PSAT/NMSQT's. I've taken three college classes, and I have a 3.9 combined GPA after taking the most advanced classes my high school has to offer. I'd have to say Sliders "attracts intelligent people and people who matter in the big picture as well," because that's what I am. I can certainly spell S-P-O-N-S-O-R-S.
Now can you spell "antitotalitarianism?" In case that word was from the Light Beyond First Wave, it means to be against the idea of a centralized government that doesn't tolerate different opinions and governs life (or this board) in a dictatorial way. I'm not saying I agree with all (or even any) on what SonGoKou2000 said, but I do happen to like First Wave. Not the soft-core stuff, that was the initial reason I stopped watching, but then I saw some not much later that didn't have very much in. I found it worth watching and towards the middle and end of the seaosn, there were some truly spectacular episodes
I may be one of the few that watches and posts both shows, but I'm not gonna stop because of that. Initially I was annoyed that Sliders was preempted by First Wave, but I still like both. I was going to start a First Wave site at one point, but I have way too much with my Sliders one and that came before I even saw First Wave. For the record, neither is actually my favourite show; that honour goes to Red Dwarf.
Actually, I'm just outside the ageband SGK2000 gave. I'm 16 and considered intelligent with my GCSE results coming out on Thursday.

Judging by this post I think it's the same stuff the producers of Sliders are. None of what you say has any basis in truth whatsoever. I will add myself to the ever growing list of intelligent people, older than 15 who watch Sliders. I am 16 years old, second in my class with the most challenging cirriculum my school offers, and I am considered very mature (more so than you I should think). You can have your views of Sliders and First Wave, but don't come here trying to start a fight. We don't care for people like you here.

Not much progress here, some people here actually saw the light (and that had little to do with my post). Let's see...buffyboy showed some promise, but still doesn't really know what he is talking about. S the not so great didn't really have anything to impart on First Wave because his motivation was impure. He was more interested in peacocking than anything else. He appears to base his securities in irrelevant achievements. Ms. Slider Sarah might not agree with me, but I respect her. It's the law of probabilities. :) If she actually creates a FW site I am sure it will look very good. That blistering idiot Parajo "doesn't care" about people like me, but cared enough to reply that I was starting a fight when my messages were not addressed to him. Interesting. It would be interesting to find out what countries these people are from. They seem to take pride in their academics, but if they're americans I must say I am not impressed, since, sadly, the US is currently 14th in education. They also appear curious as to my age. Very amusing. The base of their problem is that I know more about their show than they do about mine.
So I as I say unto you, I must say unto all who will listen, come to First Wave! Therein lieth the reward! Forget the extremely mediocre adverts the SFC has for First Wave, watch an actual episode! You will be hooked! Watch Sliders till the end, but then jump on the First Wave lifeboat, don't sink with your ship. Regardless of anyone's opinion of Sliders, good bad or indifferent, Sliders has been cancelled! There will still be a reason for you to tune in on friday nights, and that is First Wave! Reach out to salvation, ye the more enlightened!

I myself am from the UK, and from what I have gathered from people who have studied in both or had the chance to see both, our system is better. Perhaps it is, perhaps it isn't; I haven't had the oppertunity to find out myself except though TV (and from that ours looks like we learn more). I'd be interested to know where the UK is in any lists.

I am a library worker (if you took the time to read my response -- you would see that I said I am a library worker, not a librarian -- at least not yet -- I want to go back and get my masters in that field). But, Bboy is right I need to ignore you now, because you do not even know how to read, just spew a bunch of garbage and I do my research a lot better than you do.
Just one thing before I leave Mr. SonGokou, I noticed you never wrote to anyone how old you are? Or are you afraid to admit your a young person who watches "First Wave" just for the "jiggle" factor?

Dear Sarah, I am proud to say that the UK is much further ahead than the colonies, and it might actually stay that way if we can find a way to control the influx of immigration. That is a factor that bears great weight. Last I've looked our position was number 6, with "that other island" Japan being number one. I believe I saw on tv that the US dropped to 18th since 1995. It will be a long time before the colonists realise there is no value in being proud of something merely because you belong to it. But I do not mean to insult a whole nation, I simply observe the behaviour of the vocal few. They are, unfortunately, the ones from which judgement on the whole will be drawn, in many cases. Since I am currently in the US, I experience the culture first hand.
I'm glad you like First Wave! I understand your reluctance to defend it any further, taking into consideration your surroundings here. The rest of them on this thread do not really deserve any replies, I do not see the quality of their posts improving.
