Never let it be said that a great idea can't be royally f***ed up (pardon
my language, but it's appropiate). And the cliffhanger? I've never felt
more screwed in my life. But if you want to continue on and read what
the season five finale, "The Seer" is really about...go ahead.
You may want to save yourself the pain, however.

The episode opens with Diana resetting the timer to take them back
to Earth Prime (as seen in Genesis). With the events of "Eye of
the Storm", all 4 Sliders have just decided to go to their respective
homes. Diana and Mallory will be going back to "Unstuck Man"
earth...while Remmy and Maggie go back to Earth Prime. Remmy is quite
distraught about going back empty handed to face the Magg threat...but
he sees no other recourse...and Maggie has said she will stick with
him.
They jump in the vortex and land inside an empty Cathedral...and when
they open the doors, they find a large group of waiting people cheering
their arrival holding signs that say "Welcome Sliders" and
the like.
Two people come up from the group to greet the Sliders...Marc LeBeau
(known as The Seer) and his daughter Claire. Once they greet the crowd...our
next shot is the Sliders inside The Seer's mansion later in the day.
Inside the mansion, they find all sorts of Sliders merchandise...a
Diana action figure, a hard cover novel titled "Virtual Slide by
The Seer", and several oil paintings that depict the Sliders past
exploits (such as the Kromagg/Human battle from "Strangers and
Comrades" and another of the Sliders dressed as they were in "Java
Jive"). While Mallory is reading the fall edition of the Sliders
catalog, The Seer explains how this came to be.
It turns out the old man had a heart attack a few years back, and ever
since he has a second sight. He somehow gained the ability to see throughout
space and time and centered in on our group of Sliders. He has been
able to see their adventures...and it is clearly stated by him that
he deeply felt the loss when the Professor and Miss Welles died (just
the first of the finality theme of the ep). This convinces the Sliders
he's legit if he knew about that.
Then The Seer goes on to explain how it was their exploits that encouraged
that world to fight when the Kromaggs came. Yes, the Kromaggs came to
that world...and that world drove them off using a virus. Remmy is ecstatic...he
can now save his world. But The Seer informs him of something...he has
had the most vivid vision he has ever had, and if they slide past the
world they are on...the very next world will bring all 4 instant death.
And on top of that...the Sliders are informed that the virus can't be
made before they leave...it takes two days to incubate.
As we delve into it, we find that the Sliders television show features
Maggie, Remmy, Diana and Professor Arturo. That world's doubles of the
characters were used for the show...but no Quinn Mallory ever existed
on that earth, so he wasn't used. For some reason they got an actor
to portray Arturo to fill out The Seer's visions (it's never really
explained why...sigh) We also find out the The Sliders have kind of
grown into a religion on that earth...like Scientology. The Universtity
even teaches classes and has the 4 S club...The Seer's Students for
Sliders Society.
The Sliders attend a very large banquest where they meet their actor
doubles...and they see Mrs. Mallory. The Seer explains that this *is*
the Mrs. Mallory (Linda Henning) they knew from Earth Prime (and Quinn
found in the jail in Genesis)...she was left on this world by the Kromaggs
along with many other refugees (camps were set up on that earth). This
leads to a heart warming moment where Mallory explains to Mrs. Mallory
that there is nothing of her Quinn left. The Seer then makes an announcement
that the Sliders have decided to stay to stave off their impendng death
he foresaw...the only problem is, the Sliders never said that. Remmy
and the others storm off...a little later, they decide they will slide
on anyway (even without the virus-they decided to come back for it)...the
timer reaches zero, the vortex opens...Remmy and Maggie go to jump in...and
they bounce off! Mallory tries...and he bounces off! The vortex closes...and
off dumbfounded Sliders we end Act Two.
When Act Three begins...the Sliders find the timer reset. Instead of
29 years...they have 3 days to the next window (the Sliders are confused...no
explanation really ever given). Thinking that the Seer has the most
to gain by keeping them there, they go to him. He knows nothing of what
happened.
Taking the opportunity, the Sliders begin to try to get the virus made
(now that they have time). Diana and Mallory go to find Claire while
Remmy and Maggie go to the college. Here we find out a few interesting
bits of trivia while students quiz each other (like Maggie's middle
name is Allison). Through some discussion, the professor there tells
them that the virus is in everyone's blood on that world...all they
would need is a sample to inject into a carrier, then go to the world
with Kromaggs and spread it. The Professor then gives him some blood
(a diabetic happens to be nearby and they borrow his needle).
Then we cut over to Mallory and Diana. They couldn't find Claire...but
when they go to find Mrs. Mallory, they find she is being abducted.
Mallory gets in a fight to save her...the timer falls on the floor...and
then one of the goons takes a floor lamp and smashes the timer into
a million little pieces. End of Act Three.
We enter Act Four with Diana holding the timer pieces and twisted smoking
circuitry in her hand...Remmy and Maggie walk in to see this (the goons
are gone and Mrs. Mallory is safe). Remmy's comment - "Please tell
me that's not what I think it is..." So, the timer is gone. Mrs.
Mallory then finally opens up. She claims she didn't tell before because
she was afraid Mallory would leave her there. Anyway, Mrs. Mallory explains
that the Kromaggs left in a big hurry...which means they left *alot*
of equipment behind. She explains that the government got a lot of it...but
Claire also hoarded a large stockpile. She tells them where Claire is...and
the Sliders go off in hope that a sliding device is there. Also, before
they leave...Mallory has a moment with Mrs. Mallory. Telling her that
there must be a small part of Quinn still inside him because he feels
a strong connection to her. And that even though she isn't his real
mom...he feels she is more of a mom than he's ever had.
They get the storehouse to find a beat up interdimensional machine.
It is operating as a hyperspatial force field to keep out any Sliders...but
it also keeps people in (which is why the Sliders couldn't slide). Claire
(who shows up after they get there) explains that the Sliders trip to
that world was on purpose. She used some of the equipment to divert
them there and then turned the force field back on to keep them from
leaving. She claims she needed them because Sliderology is badly in
debt...and having the real Sliders there would be an enormous shot in
the arm to the cause. Claire claims she had the timer destroyed because
she knew they would keep trying as long as they had it. And now she
is going to force them to stay there and cooperate...by killing off
the real ones and having the doubles take their place. In Mallory's
case, she says that the TV writers will explain it...their just "hacks
who do anything for a buck anyway" (what a fitting line).
The Seer then comes in...having had a vision about what was going on,
he wanted to get down there to stop his daughter. He is heartsick his
daughter would do this...it's not what he wanted. And he is so distraught
he has a heart attack. Claire tells one of her bodyguards to take him
out of there...Remmy uses the opportunity to pick up a tube off the
floor and shock the bodyguard (it was a Kromagg weapon...Remmy recognized
it), and then he gets the gun from Claire.
As The Seer is laying on the floor dying...they try to help him, but
nothing can be done. The Seer informs them that more security forces
are on the way by advance order from Claire...and they don't have much
time. They fire up the Kromagg sliding machine...but it's so damaged
that it can only make a vortex the size of a manhole. One person can
go...that's it. Diana has set the coordinates to Genesis Earth Prime,
and they are trying to decide who will go (even though The Seer's words
said that the next slide would mean instant death). While they are debating...Remmy
injects himself with the blood sample and moves up to the vortex. The
other Sliders object...but it's too late. Remmy quickly tells them that
if he survives, The Seer will see it and tell the other Sliders the
coast is clear...then after they fix the machine, they can follow (guess
Remmy forgot about Claire and security on the way...sigh). Remmy jumps
in...the vortex closes.
The Sliders then run over to The Seer to see what he says...but he
ain't breathin'. The Seer is dead...he has no way to tell them if Remmy
survived...
So, with Remmy maybe back on Earth Prime (who knows if that's even
where he went)...probably dead...and the 3 other Sliders stranded on
an Earth where wacko Claire and her in route security forces are about
to ventilate them (with no Seer left to stop his daughter)...we fade
to...
The End
Now, I believe I'm going to go find a nice quiet corner and regurgitate
for awhile...
