Upon first viewing Buffy the Vampire Slayer
by ThomasMalthus
Much have I travelled the realms of TV
And many good shows, like Sliders, I've seen
Found many westerns, cop shows, Mr. Bean
Which critics proclaim are the best to see
Oft of one different show I'd been told
That Sarah Gellar killed vampires often
Yet did I somehow be seen to soften
When I saw her fighting vampires so bold
Then I saw Willow casting spells supreme
And Xander standing up to vampires there
And Oz is gone, although I know not where
But laying around, dying are the team
My heart filled with despair, my skin was pale
The worst terror e'er to hit Sunnydale
Buffy is caught, worse seeming to worsen
She escapes, to attempt to save the town
Upon her exploits, her mother does frown
Willow and Xander are getting nursing
She feels that she must rescue Giles post haste
He's been taken by Angel, who needs him
To tell the ritual, Angel bleeds him
For which most vampires seem to have a taste
The battle scenes' awesome, Buffy seems doomed
But swordfights with Angel leave her control
Willow's enchantment gives Angel his soul
Buffy, depressed, must make Angel entombed
And now I am hooked, I must hear the tale
What happens to Buffy, gone Sunnydale?
With all apologies to John Keats, for "On First Looking into Chapman's
Homer". I think this poem pretty much expresses how I feel about
the show. Needless to say, I will be watching next week.
