We'll spare you the obvious "What were THEY smoking?" jokes and the somewhat less obvious "This is the REAL nightmare on Elm Street" jokes and just pop the question:

What would you change in "Just Say Yes"?

BLINKER: I'd throw it out and start over with the comic "Narcotica" as a base. That one didn't turn out right either, but there was a lot more inherent potential than this goofy treatment.

SYNTHIA: I would have recast Katherine Moffat as Martha Stewart's double. Her role in the DEA would be to give Colin and Maggie's home that retro-'50s touch, complete with handcrafted CRACK pipes bearing decorative lace ribbons.

BLINKER: I'll spare us all the obvious "designer drugs" jokes and the somewhat less obvious "better suited for Good Thing, Bad Thing" jokes. Okay people, light up that rock!

I think we need a special guest

I'd give Nancy Reagan a call and do a takeoff on the campaign for which this episode is titled. Nancy has proven to be a very good sport about poking fun at herself and since the ultimate message of the episode is anti-drug, she may have been game.

Actually, didn't we determine that the message of this show to be a bit more vague? I can't remember the exact post. One of the trivia contests, I think.

Ahhhh.... the one I've only seen once

It's been a while now, and can't actually remember much of it. Except MAggie's laugh. That's what I'd change. It scares me.

Hippie Yippy ay Yay

Hippies are against drugs? Why not take it further have the hippies be noted for supporting war, chastity, and Easy-listening music.

Also an anti-Hippie world should not be honoring Abbie Hoffman. What about Dr. Timothy Leary? He was actually advocating something like this back in the 60s, or even Aldous Huxley.

Also, the fact that Quinn doesn't seem to remember Bennish is more proof that the wrong Quinn Slid.

Quinn and Maggie - The perfect couple

Just Say Yes to BT.

I'd have had Quinn be the Mallory that got drugged and became Maggie's "husband" instead of Colin. That way Jerry could have just continued to play Quinn the way he played him through most of season 4, which ws to employ his NAN method of acting, and it would have taken Rembrant and Colin much longer to figure out something was wrong because they could have just figured Maggie went on a "bender" and Quinn would have seemed "normal".

I really would have OD-ed Kari

the end

More "slide"!

Beginning Text must work for Douglas!

I don't want to toot my own Earth 2013 horn, particularly in regard to the fairly mediocre mid-6th season entries "The Depths" and "O Grave New World", but a more serious story, whether similar to "Narcotica" or no, would have given us a break from two of this season's staples: silly comedy and Kromaggs. Having one of the sliders (maybe Colin, who had zippo to do all year) actually become addicted to drugs would have been interesting, if somewhat painful, to watch. This could have resulted in a built-in subplot to a number of episodes that were otherwise so straightforward a three-year-old would have little trouble discerning where the ep was going.

BT don't you know what kind of announcement we would like to see?

... from David Peckinpah
I wanted to have Cheech and Chong in this movie. Heck, even get that Bong using Bennish back just for this episode. I was hoping that this episode would be a flashback to my college days, but then I thought that with the "family type" show Sliders is, that couldn't be shown. Hey, I even made a vague reference to the Professor in this episode. Where are my bong using monkeys?!?!?! Their break time is over. Time to write more episodes!

Shattering The Dream

Artificial
Illusionary
Saccharine-laced happiness
Unearned bliss
Time to shatter the dream

Wide-eyed childish innocence
Easy to take advantage
Learning the ropes will take time
Time we don't have

Reminds me of another place and time
A murder
A watch
Now a lost friend
Too many memories
But now is not the time
