Thanks to all those who participated in the EustiPoll™s, particularly those whe either replied to most of the polls (SouthernSlider, Blinker, LiveLipschitz2000, dellyone, Yeontoo, and God only know who else from the Earth 62 board) and those that took the time to list out their ratings and either post them or e-mail them to me (Tigs, Recall317, Wrong_Arturo, and SL4ever).

I mentioned earlier that Slider_Quinn21 had an idea for keeping the EustiPoll™s going. I can't remember if I ever discussed it here, but the idea was to pick fanfics to write polls about. It might generate some more interest in some of the fanfics, which is good. However, the fun part of writing the polls was pointing out some of the flaws in the episodes. I don't see anyway to write them about fanfics without insulting the author's work. Therefore, I won't be doing them. Thanks for the idea, tho' SQ21.

I think the poll results were pretty accurate.

And may I say thanks to you, Eusti, for all the effort and time you put into this. It was a lot of fun to participate in, and nice to see how others felt. I know it took a great deal of time to post and compile, not to mention the time to make up the catchy little phrases, and I truly appreciate it.

Yes! Vindication for some of my favorite eps! Eggheads in 7th! Woo-hoo!

I find it odd that "O Brother, Where art Thou?" is the highest ranked S4 episode. It's that Charlie O'Connell drawing power I guess. We can't get enough Amish humor!

I'm a little shocked "The Unstuck Man" finished so low. "Into the Mystic" looked undervalued as well. Yes, it still finished up in the top echelon, but #23? Hmmm...

My commendations and applause to EustiSlider for compiling the endless lists. The EustiPolls were a real treat.

Loads of work there Eusti, I know. I seem to have a thing for lists and tables (probably why I'm good at Championship Manager) and I kmnow how much work goes into this kinda thing - I recently cataclogued all my childhood My Little Ponies and that was bad.

And thank you! It's comprehensive and I think gives a pretty accurate representation of people's opinions!!!

Some thoughts about the results

Thanks, Eusti! I know that was a lot of hard work for you. I hope you at least had some fun doing it. I know I had a lot of fun posting for it, and I know others did too.

Some thoughts on the results:

--Interesting to see each part of The Pilot ranked differently. I know Eusti had to break them up because that's how they were shown on SFC. But I was surprised to see that while Part 1 of the pilot was at the top, part 2 ranked #6! That's still good, but the drop is still interesting. I always just regarded them as one episode anyway, myself.

--In spite of some laps in logic in the episode, PTSS remains very near the top of everyone's list. (A previous poll I had participated in here ranked it at #2 as well.) Obviously it's clear what's on everyone's hearts and minds: we want the Professor back.

--Of the 17 episodes that scored a 4 or higher, all 10 from Season 1 were included (counting the pilot as two episodes). 5 episodes of Season 2 made it in this group, and the only 2 really great episodes of Season 3 made it...in the top 5, no less. No episodes from Seasons 4 or 5 made it in the top 17.

--Highest ranked episode of Season 5: The Return of Maggie Beckett. That seems to jibe with what others here have said. Highest ranked episode of Season 4: OBWAT. As was noted, this is something of a surprise, since Colin was a largely disliked character. It's also surprising that it outranked s4 favorites like Lips. Live and World Killer.

--On the other end of the spectrum, as someone also noted, it's surprising to see how low The Unstuck Man ranked. While a lot of people didn't care for the changes that Season 5 brought, I thought this episode was more well-liked. Yet it ranked below commonly disliked episodes like The Dream Masters (!), Soul Survivors, The Seer and even Genesis.

--Another strange one: Fan favorite Applied Physics ranked below The Good, the Bad, and the Wealthy, often referred to as a clunker.

--I haven't seen The Great Work...but if Slither ranks ABOVE it, I'd better stay far away. ;-)

I'm glad people are finding the results interesting. I think you'll find the differences in how the Dominion ranked things vs. the Earth 62 rankings interesting.

Something else interesting I noticed. Remember how I noted that none of the top 17 were from Seasons 4 or 5? Well, in fact, the first 18 episodes all feature the original crew. But #19 is The Return of Maggie Beckett...a Season 5 episode. On the other hand, Easy Slider kept ending up near the bottom of every list.

So I guess when Season 5 was good, it was very, very good...and when it was bad, it was the worst. ;-)
