Epilogue Four: Vortex Master
Yeontoo placed the file in the outbox and checked the time. It was almost time for her favorite TV show to come on.

"Hmm… I'll do one more file then ask when my lunch is going to arrive."

She opened up the next file folder and read the first page.

I would like to be the 5thSlider because sliding is fun (like our fanfic) and it is useful. I think that I will bring my own personality and skills into sliding and by doing that I will make it better.

VM and Tex had just gotten back from their trip in the jungle with some fresh coconuts when they sensed something was wrong. They couldn't tell what it was first, but then they realized that BritSlider was missing. They called MSR and called a search.

VM was to look in the surroundings of the camp, Tex was to search the jungles, his specialty, and MSR was to look along the river banks and coast.

They searched for an hour with no success then returned to camp. The trio began brainstorming where he might be.

MSR asked, "What was he supposed to be doing now?"

Tex commented, "Come to think about it... I think it was his watch!"

This perplexed VM. "What? Maybe something happened to him. Perhaps the Alphas had kidnapped him? But then again, Morpheus is nowhere to be seen, so..." His mind went through several scenarios at a dizzying speed.

"Hey, what's goin' on there? Is this about me?" Brit came from behind them, seeming dizzy. All 3 of them jumped him with questions.

"Where have you been?"

"We were starting to worry."

"Did something happen to you?"

Brit was confused. "Well... I don't know..."

"He was sleeping in his 'room'." A giggling voice said from above. Everyone looked up to see Vig's hologram since Vig was in the observation tower.

"He he. How do you like the new equipment Y gave us? I saw you, Brit!"

Brit was angry because he was caught in the act. "I'll get you, Vigster! Just wait till this game is over!"

"Oops, gotta go!" Vig disappeared.

"So, Brit, you were saying..?" The others looked at him, questioning.

"Yep, that holo-equipment has been very useful," commented Yeontoo as she flipped the page.

A very late Miz Yeontoo called into the cave. "Hhheeeellllllllllllooooooooooooooo?"

As the Omegas warily came to the entrance, a flustered Yeontoo apologized for the delay. "The boat'll be here in half an hour to take VM off. Shortly after, we'll have the council meeting in the stone chamber for your next challenge." Yeontoo hurried off.

No one spoke until Yeontoo was out of earshot. This challenge was a highly contested one for the Omega Team. All of them stood together in an unsuccessful attempt to overturn the judges' ruling that the Alpha Team had won.

VM walked forward to address his teammates. "Thank you all for standing by me though this."

"It's still not fair. Let me try one more time," replied an angry MSR.

Brit glared at her. "No, you won't. Both you and I tried vehemently to get it overturned but they didn't rule in our favor."

"We could only do as much as we did. Just let it rest," Tex added.

"Thanks, MSR, but you're lucky that you weren't asked to leave. I couldn't believe it when you insulted the judges and Yeontoo when you were arguing our case," VM said as he looked at her.

Brit remembered her rash reaction. "I thought for sure that you'd be asked to leave."

"Yes, a miracle that you aren't going on that boat. I don't see a reason why they would let you stay after the three of us had to restrain you from attacking them," commented Tex.

"Oh… okay. I won't. We're going to win the next challenge," MSR promised.

"For VM," Tex, Brit and MSR said in unison.

"Good luck. I hope you win. Escort me to the boat?" asked VM. They all nodded yes. "Finally, I can write a letter to Echos."

The Omega Team made their way to the beach to bid farewell to their teammate.

October 25, 2000

*This is going to be my lucky day. Race number seven. I can feel it. I hope you got my letter, Echos,* thought VM as he took his mark. His sprained ankle had healed weeks earlier, but he returned to top form in less than two weeks. In each hand, he held onto a small red flag. The object was to finish the obstacle course with the flags still in his possession. Time was his competitor as was in the previous races. He was extremely lucky the last time.

As soon as he saw the green light, he took off. He raced through the course as a red light closely followed him. He jumped across a short ditch filled with standing water, just a millisecond before the light. As he ran around several poles, the light was biting at his heels. He stayed ahead of the light and crossed the finish line in a flourish.

At the finish line, an out-of-breath VM turned around and outstretched held his arms, still holding the flags. His body made a small letter 'T' with the flags hanging at the end of his hands.

VM prayed he'd be lucky once again as a red light flashed on his right side.

"Told you it was 2 millimeters off to the right," remarked a man, looking through binoculars, as the low power laser missed the flag and partially slashed through the brachial artery in VM's upper arm.

"Well, I wasn't sure. Time for another requisition. This one was very lucky, he won't suffer too long before he dies," commented the second man, taking down notes.

"Three minutes," said the first man as he watched VM writhing in agony.

"Two minutes," the second man countered.

"You're on." Both men watched through their binoculars as two others rushed to VM.

Yeontoo turned the page and saw another order request. "Another requisition. Hmm… those guys are getting so close to perfecting that laser of theirs." She filled in the form and closed the file.

She pressed the intercom once again as she placed the file with the others that were done. "Yeontoo here. Just checking if my lunch is on the way."

"She's on her way," answered a woman.

"Thank you."

She heard a knock on her door. "Miz Yeontoo, your lunch has arrived," said a young woman.

"Goodie goodie. About time," said Yeontoo as she walked over to open the door.

She opened the door and was presented with her lunch on a sterling silver serving tray. "Thank you, hun," said Yeontoo as she took the tray from her.

"You're welcome," the young woman replied. "Anything else?"

"Yes, be a dear and turn the television on," replied Yeontoo as she walked back to her desk and placed the tray on her desk. She quickly sat down to her feast.

*Crash* Yeontoo looked up from her spaghetti and meatballs to see her maid had accidentally run into a small table with a small glass vase on it.

"Sorry, I didn't see that. Hope it wasn't expensive," apologized the maid as she bent over to pick up the pieces.

"Don't worry. It wasn't. On second thought, please turn on the TV and VCR before you clean up the mess." Yeontoo started on her spaghetti.

"Yes, ma'am," she said as she walked over to the TV. She turned on them both on and went back to her cleanup.
